Tooth Issues

We got our first winter storm of the season today. You can bet I was glad to be home instead of out in it. Driving in winter conditions doesn’t bother me, it’s the other drivers out there that scare me! You get the people who drive like it’s a bright, dry summer day, then you get the ones that really should’ve stayed home because they’re SO incredibly freaked out. Here’s a few shots from my back deck; 100_7518 100_7516

Weather like that warrants a hearty breakfast! 100_7515

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup kamut flakes
  • cinnamon
  • almond butter
  • Enjoy Life mountain mix trail mix 100_7514

We lost our satellite signal for most of the morning. I even took a broom to the dish to clear the slush to no avail. What are 2 girls to do? Watch Twilight again, of course!!! :D I’m team Edward and DD is team Jacob so we’ve got some pretty fun rivalry going on. Haha!!

We agreed that it was a soup kinda day for lunch so I warmed up the Campbell’s Hearty Garden Vegetable that I received in the mail last week;

100_7519

We split the box and had some Dr. Kracker cracker on the side. 100_7520

My thoughts on the soup? I really liked how thick it was and that it was jammed packed with whole pieces of vegetables. Both bonuses. I can’t say that I loved the flavour of the soup, though. I much preferred it when I had a bite of cracker with it. DD, on the other hand, loved everything about it and asked for seconds. I’d give it a 3/5.

Much later in the afternoon I made a fantastic little snack for myself. I combined cottage cheese, crushed pineapple and some Nature’s Path banana almond cereal; 100_7521

Booya! I love cottage cheese with pineapple!

The meal plan for tonight was a roast done in the crock pot but seeing as I’m home (which I didn’t think I’d be) I decided to roast it in the oven. I surrounded the meat with red onion wedges and a few cloves of garlic and kept the seasonings simple with just some salt and pepper. I roasted it at a lower temp for a bit longer than normal and we were rewarded with a tender piece of meat. I ate mine with onions (LOVE roasted onions) and the last of my butternut squash; 100_7522

Right after dinner I went down to the school for parent teacher interviews then I came home and picked DS up for swimming lessons. When that was done we went to the store to buy him some new winter boots. Poor kid had none today! I was a little hungry when we got home so I grabbed a few pieces of dried fruit when something nasty happened. I crunched on something and when I spit it out I realized that it was half of one of my molars. WTF??? The damn tooth just broke apart and now I have to call the devil dentist to get it fixed (somehow). You all know how I feel about going to the dentist, right? For the love of God…..

On the bright side, Swimming lessons are now done until January. YIPEE!! Do you have something wrapping up for the year this week?

Bye for now!!

Tree’s Up!

Today was much the same as yesterday….staying in the house. I did get some Christmas decorations up but we’ll do breakfast first. I wasn’t really feeling a hot breakfast today so I finished up a couple boxes of cereal instead; 100_7442

This is about 1 cup of Nature’s Path gluten free maple cereal and the last bit of Nature’s Path ginger granola topped off with USVAB. Cereal must’ve been just what I was craving because this bowl hit the spot!

DD is feeling a bit better yet again, but not perfect. She spent most of the day watching TV; 100_7447

She’s always preferred lying on the floor. Weirdo! Pepper is enjoying her company, too!

100_7441

Lunch snuck up on me today. The hours between 10-12 seem non-existent. I decided to use up some leftover sweet and sour sauce from Tuesday night’s pork chop dinner by using it as a pizza topping. I piled it on a flat out wrap then dotted it with goat’s milk brie; 100_7448

Then DD and I shared some fresh pineapple. 100_7449

Don’t worry…she had her own bowl!!!

Most of the afternoon was spent on the computer. I left at 3:30 to pick DS up from school and when we came home we put the tree up.

100_7455

Don’t mind the cat. He figured he needed to get in on the fun! I assembled the tree and added the lights then the kids put the ornaments on. I also set out a few other things; 100_7446 100_7444 100_7445

I drank a hot chocolate peppermint stick soy to keep things festive;

100_7453

Not long after the tree was up the FedEx man came to the door. I knew this could only mean something good! It was a package sent to me from Campbell’s with the new V8 Garden Blend soup and a few other goodies!!

100_7451

YAY!!!

Dinner tonight was my last Rachael Ray recipe of the week and it was the best one! 100_7456

I love how all her meals come together so fast. This was done in about 20 minutes. I also made some Jiffy corn bread to go along with it. Here’s my bowl with some grated marble cheese and neon Oikos! 100_7457

There was a bit of the yogurt left so I mixed in the last spoonful of pumpkin butter and had that as my sweet end. I didn’t take a picture though. I figure it’d be about as bright as it is above.

So, that’s all for me tonight. I’ll be watching CSI and Vampire Diaries tonight. Really hoping that they’re NOT repeats like last Thursday!!

Bye for now!!

Thanksgiving Treats

Hi all! Today’s my Friday! How about that? It’s a good feeling knowing that I get the day to myself tomorrow. 100_6531

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/3 PC 5 grain cereal
  • cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup pear sauce
  • sprinkle of Dorset cereal

100_6529

Yum in my tum!

I had another really productive day at work. It’s great knowing that I’m going into the busiest part of next week prepared. Mid morning I ate a piece of apple butter bread; 100_6533

I hopped on the elliptical today at the gym. I felt a little off my game for some reason, but still managed to get a good workout in.

  • Time: 40 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 150
  • Max Hr: 166
  • Calories Torched: 386
  • Distance: 4.4 miles

I’d be lying if I said I enjoyed my lunch today. I packed a container of V8 Corn & Chipotle soup and was pretty excited to try it out because it had lots of whole corn kernels in it. I also brought 3 Ryvita crackers; 100_6534

I can’t pinpoint what I didn’t like about this soup. It was just a strange blend of flavours, I guess. Blah… I chased it with some cocoa roasted almonds. 100_6535

MUCH better! Just before leaving work my Thanksgiving baking order from a local (trade) high school, CHSS, came in. Check this out! 100_6536

These sugar cookies are for the kids to bring to school tomorrow to share with their classmates. 100_6537

The next layer had Mom’s ginger snap cookies, pumpkin pie tarts and mine and Mom’s whole wheat buns. The buns are $1/doz. Can’t go wrong with that! 100_6538

The bottom layer had my hubby’s pumpkin pie and Mom’s pecan pie. My hubby tore into the tarts as soon as I walked in the door. Here’s what they look like; 100_6540

While on break today, I walked over to Tim Horton’s and bought myself a box of their Pumpkin Spice tea; 100_6539

SO, both the the kids were on the ice tonight from 5:30 until 6:20…but at different rinks. :/ I baked up a frozen pizza for them and warmed up some ambercup squash with a dollop of Dijonnaise as a snack for myself; 100_6541

I took DD to her lesson and popped into the adjoining library while I was there. I found 5 cookbooks that I’ll be going through a bit later. YAHOO! When we got home all I wanted to eat was some comfort food. My tummy’s been a little sour all day so I went with some Windy Hill Farms cremo cereal; 100_6542

This was 1 cup water, 1/3 cup cremo cereal, cinnamon, raisins, almond butter and fig preserves. It went down real nice!

CSI and The Vampire Diaries are on in a bit so I’ll be shutting down soon. I’m totally hooked on the Vampire Diaries even though it’s kinda cheesy. All the eye candy makes up for that, though! :)

Bye for now!!

Vacation Time

YAHOO!! My 2 weeks off work has finally arrived! Hallelujah! I got the day off on the right foot with a great bowl of oats. 100_5163

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oat bran
  • cinnamon
  • TJ’s almond butter
  • dorset cereal
  • caramel apple yoga chips

100_5162

Nom. nom. nom! The apple chips were very good, but very expensive for the little bit that was in the bag. What you see was about 1/2 the bag which cost me $1.79. I saved the other half to eat on their own so that I could get the true flavour. They reminded me of a candy apple which is a big plus in my book!

Here are my snacks that I ate through the day. I’ve been randomly munching on bits here and there lately which is why I’m just posting everything together. 100_5165

100_5171

100_5170

I took an hour off work this morning to attend DS’s last day of Italian school festivities. His teacher is out of town tomorrow which is why the class ended today. DD’s class finishes tomorrow. The kids put on a little show and enjoyed cake and juice, then we all played a game very similar to bingo. Here he is getting his “diploma”! 100_5166

Check out that bad ass haircut! ;)

I was back to work with enough time to etch out 30 minutes on the elliptical.

Backed with the knowledge that the weather was going to be cool and wet again today, I packed some soup for lunch. I tried a V8 Golden Autumn Carrot;

100_5161

I paired it up with my last 2 Suzie’s spelt sticks and topped it off with the seeds that were at the bottom of the box… 100_5169

This soup was all sorts of good! I’d definitely buy it again. I still have a V8 broccoli and V8 chipotle corn to try out. Later in the afternoon I broke out a chocolate Amazing Grass packet and mixed it with hot water and a splash of milk; 100_5164

Not my favourite way to drink this, but I got it back. It was just to “grassy” when hot!

We BBQ’d up a pork tenderloin for dinner tonight and I chopped up my serving and added it to a huge bunch of red leaf lettuce dotted with feta and topped with Kraft Fig Balsamic dressing. 100_5172

We are severely lacking in the veggie department. Thankfully grocery day is tomorrow! DD and I ran out the door as soon as dinner was done for haircuts, well, trims, really! We just walked in the door now at 8pm and I wanted to get this up before settling in to watch SYTYCD. I’m very intrigued about the singing and dancing that Katie Holmes is suppose to be doing! Anyone else? Anyways, I’ll be back tomorrow stress and care free on my first day of vacation….or maybe I should call it my “stay-cation”!!

Bye for now!

Rink Bunny Family

Hooray for Friday!! And I’m off all next week so I’m extra excited! I might’ve slept in a wee bit today so my morning was a little on the hectic side. I did manage to get things in order with enough time left for a delicious breakfast, though!
-1 cup water
-1/2 Flax Seed porridge
-1/2 mashed banana
-cinnamon
-cranberries
-carob chips

I love how the chips melt into the warm oats for a great malt-y taste throughout. Man, carob is REALLY growing on me!! I can’t wait to bake something with them! Next week, friends, next week!

When I got to my desk this morning, this was waiting for me;
A large Chai tea! Compliments of a co-worker who won’t see me on my b-day next week. How did my roll up the win play out?
Not good…again! I swear I never win even a measly donut! Throughout the course of the morning I once again snacked on some Parnoosh dates and dried figs.

I kicked it for 50 minutes with the elliptical today at the gym. My knees have been hurting me this week, but they seem fine on the elliptical so I went for it. I was surprised that my stat’s aren’t much lower than if I’d been on the treadmill for the same amount of time!

Time: 50 minutes
Avg Hr: 160
Max Hr: 175
Calories Burned: 449

At one point I decided to try to go backwards and it reset the whole course! No biggie, but now I know for the next time! :)

Lunch was the rest of the V8 Broccoli soup from the other day, a Bodywise bagel, toasted with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge and my last blood orange.

Fantastic lunch and it took me a while to eat seeing as I was taking bites between time sheet entries!!

Considering I was looking at the last few hours before a week of freedom, the afternoon clipped by at a nice speed! Just before packing it all in for the day…I mean week…I ate ½ of a Clif Banana Nut bar.

While it was very good, it was also very sweet! Half was the perfect amount for me. DD took the other half in her lunch bag. She really like it, too! :)

I made another attempt at the goat cheese and mushroom sandwich tonight with MUCH better results! I bought some plain goat cheese and it made a world of difference. To recap, I cooked down 1 onion and sliced mushrooms in about 1/2 a cup of vegetable broth total, then piled the mixture high on a Pita Break thin coated in goat cheese and lettuce. Roasted asparagus finished off the meal;

Look at that. A moment of silence, please! For my sweet end I warmed up a slice of pumpkin bread and topped it with some cinnamon plum tea jam.
The perfect end. There may or may not have been a mint chip Cadbury thin bar consumed, too. I have no evidence or witness', though!

We are off to yet another hockey game tonight! I think this may be the last one because the last game of the season is on Sunday. We might make it to some play off games, but that's up in the air for now. When we get back I plan on making myself a green monster to drink while I wind down. The boys are up at 5am for a 6am practice, then they have 8am hair appointments and then my hubby has to work until 3:30. Needless to say, they'll be in bed as soon as we get home!!!

**REMEMBER! Get Us Baking & Win!!!***

Have a GREAT night!

Bye for now!!
