Another Day Done

Well, here we are at the back end of another hump day. Did the day go well for everybody? I imagine a lot of you are still sorting through new class schedules and routines. I know my kids are still bringing loads of information home!

100_6131

I’m still amazed at how filling this cereal is! Love it!

My morning snack was a Nature’s Valley granola bar; 100_6133 100_6134

This is one tasty bar! And it works well for me as a pre gym snack when my lunch is on the early side.

Today’s gym sesh was a mix of the elliptical and some strength training.

  • Time: 50 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 152
  • Max Hr: 173
  • Calories Burned: 426
  • Distance (on elliptical): 3.4 miles

I made a sandwich for lunch composed of an Arnold Thin, a SOL veggie burger, honey mustard, pepper jack cheese and red leaf lettuce; 100_6135

I ate the SOL burger cold today and preferred it over hot. Weird, I know. I chased the sammie with the last bag of Yoga Chips; 100_6137

The afternoon dragged on a bit. Near the end of the day I ate my Ginger Gold apple to spark my energy levels back up! 100_6138

When I use the apple cutter at home DS calls the core the “candle”. That comment never fails to make me laugh!

After I picked the kids up we went to the grocery store to buy some fresh fish for dinner. They decided on red snapper fillets and I was A-OK with that! I baked them in the oven at 350* for 15 minutes simply seasoned with butter and salmon spice. The sides for the night were brown rice (which I topped with homemade marinara sauce) and steamed green beans; 100_6143

This was such a great tasting meal. The fam gobbled it up, too! My sweet end was a zucchini nut muffin with some macadamia nut butter on top. 100_6145

On the agenda for the rest of the night?

  • make lunches
  • take KC for a walk
  • make a batch of mini muffins
  • go through school papers
  • watch SYTYCD Canada

I think I’d better get a move on!

Bye for now!!

TGIAF

That’s right! The weekend is just around the corner. This week feels like it has gone by very fast. I’m sure not complaining! Even though it wasn’t the case, I was feeling rushed for time this morning so I decided a bowl of cereal was the way to go; 100_5986

This here is a cup of Kashi U, fresh blueberries and USAB. I’m almost done the box which makes me sad because this is one terrific cereal. 100_5985

I managed to get a few odd jobs off my desk today. Glad to see the back of them! My morning snack was a Clif Dipped Mojo Bar; 100_5989

This bar had me at first glance; 100_5991

Anything coated in luxurious chocolate has to be good, right? Right. One taste blew my mind! It was like a big mouthful of crunchy peanut butter and nutella. Heaven. The only thing that gave me pause was the 210 calorie count. I normally would want a bar that high to be bigger than this was, but it’s nothing that would stop me from purchasing more on my next road trip to the US. I have a PB & Jelly dipped one still to try and I’m hoping it’s as good. Here’s a final thought on Mr. Dipped! 100_5995

Then I was off to the gym. I really had to talk myself into going today. I just was not feeling it. Those are usually the days that end up rocking and today was no exception!

  • Time: 50 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 162
  • Max Hr: 186
  • Calories Burned: 470
  • Distance: 4.5 miles

Five minutes of this was spend giving my legs a really good stretch. Feels great after a run, for sure!

Lunch was a bit of a cop out, but really tasty! I was so unmotivated last night while trying to figure out what I wanted that I just threw 3 ingredients in a container…..leftover zucchini, feta and chopped walnuts; 100_5997

This turned out to be a fabulous blend of flavours! I also ate some fruit that I collected from the staff kitchen that was left over from a meeting… 100_5987

Love fresh fruit. Especially when it’s already cut up for me! :D

DS was on the ice again this aft at 5 so I drove over to the rink to watch for a bit. On the way I snacked on some peach yoga chips; 100_5999

I’ve only got 2 packs left which is a sad thing.

DD and I made our way home at 5:30 so I could get dinner going. I grilled up some bone in chicken breasts and red onions, nuked a sweet potato pour moi and dished out some baby carrots and Sabra jalapeno hummus; 100_6000

FYI….that extra crispy skin came off as soon as the picture was taken. I have never, ever been a fan of the skin….crispy or otherwise. Ewww. My sweet end was a Skinny Cow fudge pop. 100_6001

I spent some time on the deck with my book before collecting DD to go purchase a gift for a party she’s invited to tomorrow. Parties sure have come a long way since I was a kid. This sleepover starts at 6:30pm tomorrow and is being held at a HOTEL. Yes, you read that right, a hotel. According to the invite, there will be movies, swimming, and a waffle b-fast bar in the morning. I think I want to go to this party, too. ;)

I’ll sign off now as I go reminisce about b-day parties of the past where we played pin the tail on the donkey and ate a good ole Betty Crocker cake with Smarties as decorations….

Bye for now!

Last Day of Freedom For The Kiddies

Well, summer vacation has ended for my offspring! While they won’t admit it, I think they are looking forward to the routine that going back to school offers. Back packs and lunch boxes are all set to go and I’ve already made their sandwiches. Off to a good start!

While buying some school items last night I came across some neat looking English muffins that I HAD to try! 100_5948 100_5960

Sorry about the sideways picture. It just doesn’t want to cooperate for some reason! Anyways, back to the goods. These have all natural ingredients so need to be refrigerated or frozen just like Ezekiel 4:9 products. The fact that they look more like buns didn’t deter me in the least; 100_5950 100_5949

For breakfast I cut one in half, toasted it up and spread one side with cinnamon plum tea jam and the other with cinnamon honey; 100_5952

What a fabulous breakfast….and it held me over as long as oats do. BONUS!

I discovered a few treats in the office candy bowl today that my hand automatically reached out and grabbed… 100_5953

Swedish berries and macaroons! YUM! I countered these treats with a container full of grapes a few hours later. 100_5954

These also served as my pre gym snack. Speaking of the gym….I decided to set the treadmill on a pre programmed incline course and knocked the speed back some. While the mileage wasn’t as high as I normally do, the calories burn was the same. Proof to myself that a quality workout doesn’t have to include an all out speed run.

  • Time: 50 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 154
  • Max Hr: 174
  • Calories Burned: 448
  • Distance: 4.33 miles

I brought the leftover Chicken Piccata from Saturday night for my lunch today. I have to apologize in advance for the picture. While this meal tasted stellar, it is NOT photogenic in the least! 100_5956

As a bit of a sweet end I nibbled my way through a bag of Yoga Chips in the original flavour; 100_5957

I pulled salmon out for dinner before I left work today but by the time I got home from work I totally wasn’t feeling it. Weird, cuz I love me some salmon! What I really felt like was eggs in some form or another. So, the fam got salmon and I made a little egg white omelette with broccoli & mushrooms. I set it atop a toasted Arnold Thin and spinach. I also finished off some grilled zucchini that were hanging out in the fridge. 100_5958

And to complete the feast I warmed up a blueberry muffin and topped it with some smooth macadamia nut butter! 100_5959

I’ve got a few things to get ready yet for the morning so that things run as smoothly as possible so I need to end the fun here. I hope this Monday was nice to everybody….I know it treated me pretty good. I’ll “see” yak all tomorrow!

Bye for now!

Bock Bock

Just a little warning…I ate lots of chicken today!! I may wake up with feathers and a beak in the morning! :D

I enjoyed a cool breakfast this morning; 100_5873

I combined a vanilla Chobani and 1/2 cup of TJ’s blueberry muesli. I liked the yogurt mixed with the cereal much better than plain. 100_5872

I munched on another blueberry muffin again this morning pre gym. Check out all the blueberries stuffed in there! 100_5876

I had a hankering for chocolate so I paired the muffin with a mocha;

100_5874

I worked it on the elliptical today as well as doing some strength work. I really need to focus on doing weights a little more often so my goal is to do that on the days that I don’t run.

  • Time: 50 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 151
  • Max GR: 176
  • Calories Burned: 402
  • Distance: 3.5 miles

Lunch was my first round of chicken for the day. I ate the last of the beer butt chicken with mushrooms and broccoli; 100_5878

Lunch dessert was a pack of strawberry flavoured Yoga Chips; 100_5879

I have to say that I’ve enjoyed all the flavours I’ve tried so far! The ingredients on this pack was 100% organic Fugi apples and natural strawberry flavour. Yum! I also snacked on grapes later on in the day. 100_5880

I had to pick up the kids and my hubby after work as the Jeep was in the shop getting a sensor replaced. I knew dinner would be later than usual so I brought along a baggie of dark chocolate cocoa roast almonds to get me through.

100_5877

Ready for more chicken? Dinner was grilled chicken breast with a Thai seasoning, a sweet potato and tomatoes from the garden; 100_5881

This was a great dinner and I was comfortably full after eating it. We took K.C. for another long walk tonight. I’m going to miss doing that once the weather turns raunchy. He knows now when it’s time to go because when he sees me he started dancing like a mad dog! Too cute…I made a tea when I got back and while waiting for the water to boil I grabbed a handful (or 2) of fruit loops from the box that the kids had out. That is something I have to stop doing, but I’m working on it. I've always been a big night time snacker and it’s a hard habit to break. :/

Anyways, off to watch SYTYCD Canada! WAHOO!!

Bye for now!!!

Nothing New To Report

Hi everybody! I hafta make this post a quickie because I’m in between storms right now and want to have the computer off before the next one rolls through. Don’t want any nasty lightening crashing my Dell now!

I tried a new cereal for breakfast today. 100_5795

I found this Kashi U at Meijer's and the mix of black currants and walnuts intrigued me. 100_5797

This cereal was chalk full of crunchy flakes big black currants, walnuts and yummy clusters. 100_5796

I don’t often eat cold cereal for breakfast because I find it doesn't hold me over for long. This cereal kept me full as long as my oats do! I highly recommend this if you can find it!

We had a meeting at work until 11 and when I got back to my desk I ate a Clif Bar to get me through my run; 100_5798

This was a total yum-yum flavour! 100 times better than the apricot one of the other day.

The gym was particularly hot today. I think the dense humidity outside contributed to that. It made my run harder for sure!

  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 164
  • Max Hr: 181
  • Calories Burned: 507
  • Distance: 4.5 miles

My face looked like a tomato by the time I got off! Yikes…

While making DS’s sandwiches for hockey camp I decided to make one for my lunch, too. On an Arnold Thin I layered pepper jack cheese, deli roasted chicken, lettuce, mayo & chipotle mustard; 100_5799

This was one spicy sammie…..just the way I like them! After eating that I opened a baggie of Yoga Chips in Apple Cinnamon; 100_5800

Apple pie anyone? Cuz that’s just what these tasted like! Simple ingredients, too…organic Fugi apples and organic cinnamon.

Tonight’s din din was BBQ’d pork tenderloin, garden tomatoes and baked beans. I don’t like my food touching on my plate so that’s why you’ll see the beans in their own little bowl. It also helps on the portion control front! 100_5801

Dessert was a big ole bowl of honeydew melon; 100_5804

Sweet as sugar! I think I’m going to make some muffins tonight seeing as our satellite dish is out due to the cloud cover. Boo! At least there’s not much on that’s good tonight. I hope the storms move through before the kids have to go to bed. As soon as there’s thunder they won’t stay up in their rooms. :/

Hope the sun is shining brightly where you are!

Bye for now…

Someone’s Exhausted

And it’s not me….much! I have never seen DS as wiped out as he is tonight after 2 days of hockey camp. The poor sap could barely make it up the stairs and into the tub. I don’t think he’ll be doing any arguing about going to bed tonight. I think he’ll be a puddle of mud by Friday evening.

I had a bit of extra time this a.m. so I made a batch of pancakes for myself. As usual, I added a pack of Amazing Grass to the mix; 100_5772

Blueberries were also added the the ‘cakes…. 100_5774

For the top I mixed some raspberry jam and almond butter…. 100_5773

These really filled me up…almost too much!

Work was work. Another day another dollar; what can I say? Thank heavens for the gym! I snacked on half of this apricot Clif bar before heading down the hall; 100_5775

I gotta be honest here. I love Clif bars, but I did not love this flavour…and I love apricots. This bar was just too sweet. Now I’m not sad that I haven’t seen this flavour in Canada.

I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical and 15 on the treadmill walking at 4mph with a 5% incline.

  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 157
  • Max Hr: 175
  • Calories Burned: 432
  • Distance: 4.4 miles total

Nothing inspiring was coming to me while getting lunches ready last night so I brought a serving of vegan chili to work with me today. It’s pretty spicy stuff so I also packed some plain NF yogurt to stir in. 100_5778 Next up was a bag of these Yogachips! 100_5779

After seeing these on my blog a few weeks ago, Jennifer contacted me to see if I would like to try some other flavours. Of course I jumped on the offer because I really enjoyed the bag I had bought. Yogavive was generous enough to send me 8 bags! Here are the flavours that are available; 100_5770

I already knew that I liked them so I shared my baggie with a few co-workers who all thought they were really good. When I asked what they thought they tasted like, they all replied, “APPLES!!” and with good reason because the only ingredient in the plain is 100% organic Fugi apples. 100_5780

If you see these kicking around your friendly supermarket, give’em a try!

I was suppose to meet my bestie for some more gym time tonight, but my hubby ended up working late and I had to bail. We changed our plans to tomorrow instead. Once getting home from picking DS up, I ate some honeydew and cantaloupe chunks; 100_5781

I made some pasta for DS then we took K.C. for a walk around the block before I settled in with a small meal of my own. 100_5783

I sautéed some kale, swiss chard and beet greens then tossed them with some raspberry walnut dressing, feta, pistachios and dried cherries; 100_5782

So good!!! I finished off the meal with a small scoop of froyo that wasn’t even enough to take a picture of. I chilled on the porch for a bit with my book and now I’m going to tuck in to watch SYTYCD. Then, just before bed, I have to prepare DS’s lunch for tomorrow. As for right now? I need to go tuck my tired baby into beddy bye!

Bye for now!!
