Back To Our Normal

Oooh-eee! It’s been a scorcher out there today! Its suppose to storm later on, though. As much as I love the heat we really do need some rain. Everything is SO dry and this will make my plants happy. We’re back to our regular routine at the Krista’s Kravings household with my hubby back to work from a week’s vacation and the craziness of the ball hockey tournament behind us. It truly amazes me how utterly exhausted we were last night. I’m still feeling the effects today! LOL! DS, on the other hand, was wide awake when I went to bed at 10pm. He informed me that he still had enough energy for 5 more ball hockey games. WHAT? I need to bottle his energy and sell it. I’d be rich fast.

I hunkered down with my oats before going to work this morning:IMG_1884
-2/3 cup water
-1/3 cup Quaker oats
-cinnamon
-strawberries
-hazelnut pieces
-coconut butterIMG_1883
My day at work was spent doing data entry. What a drag, but at least the time skipped along nicely. I packed my gym stuff but just didn’t have it in me to go today. Besides, a co worker brought me some perennials that I wanted to get home and watered before they died. Good excuse, right? I did eat my fruit cup from yesterday before heading out to save the plants! **giggle**
This was a pretty decent mix with the usual suspects; strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, kiwi, grapes, blueberries and honey dew.

Lunch was a big, fresh salad with spring mix, tomato, red pepper, chickpeas, cheese and blueberry acai dressing:IMG_1886
Then, later in the afternoon, I ate a coconut almond Kind bar:IMG_1887
We’ve been eating dinner out on the deck most nights, but tonight was extra pleasant because it was overcast and there was a nice breeze. We had spinach and feta turkey sausages, steamed green cauliflower and the fam also had mac n’ cheese. I dipped my cauliflower into some hummus.IMG_1889
Dessert was the very last coconut carob pecan oatmeal bar.IMG_1890

I dropped DD off at her last dance class for the year after dinner. Her recital is next week and I can’t wait! She LOVES the spotlight and always has a huge smile on her face for the whole performance. I usually take a video at her dress rehearsal and I’m hopping to be able to post it this year. I also got the grocery shopping done…finally. When I got home I munched on a few of these… IMG_1888

That’s a sneak peek of a product review that I’m working on. I’m hoping to have that post up over the weekend. I have to go to Toronto for a workshop for my job tomorrow which means I’ll be leaving earlier than usual. So for now I’m going to kick back with some Law & Order: SUV and a decaf. Hope you’re enjoying a relaxing evening!

Bye for now!!

Present Time!

What a GREAT 2 days it has been! The weather has been glorious, DD had a wonderful birthday, DS was happy to be back out on the soccer field (soccer is fave thing to do in the summer…hockey in the winter), I’ve enjoyed some tasty food. Life is good!

I fell a little short on time yesterday morning so I sat down to a bowl of Wildroots cereal with USVAB: IMG_1655
Work has been smoking busy this week so time has gone by pretty fast. Before getting to the gym I snacked on a date & walnut Kind bar.IMG_1656
This was good, but sweet. I was glad it wasn’t any bigger because it would’ve been a little too much.

I fit a power walk in at the gym. The temp was way up yesterday and today. Like, 76*F. I bumped it down to 67, but it took awhile to get there. Thankfully there’s a fan so I turned it on high and pointed it in my direction.

Time: 45 minutes
Avg Hr: 156
Max Hr: 170
Calories Torched: 429
Distance: 3 miles

I had a delicious sandwich for lunch! I topped 2 pieces of whole grain bread with a slice of provolone cheese, 2 slices of Mediterranean roasted deli chicken breast, mayo and lots of lettuce:IMG_1657
This was the perfect size and was dense enough to keep me full. So much so that I didn’t eat my usual 3pm snack!

I promised DD that she could open her present(s) when I got home for work so that’s what we did. (A little background on her gift….when we were in Toronto a few weeks ago, we stopped by Lululemon and I had her try on anything she liked. We made a “wish list” from that so I was able to go online to buy a few pieces that were the proper size and that I knew she would like.) I ended up going with a lighter jacket (Flashback jacket), a pair of Wunder Groove crops, boogie shorts (for dance), a water bottle and 2 headbands. Here are just a couple pics of her opening everything: IMG_1662 IMG_1663 IMG_1667
She knew she was getting Lulu, but not what so she was thrilled with her haul. We also gave her a $20 g/c for Walmart so she can pick out a bathing suit for herself as she’s wanted one and I don’t trust myself to pick one she’ll love.

Dinner was turkey sausage done on the BBQ in a PC hotdog thin and a quick salad I made up with a can of corn (rinsed) and can of black beans (also rinsed) ½ a chopped onion, 1 orange bell pepper, white balsamic vinegar and S&P.IMG_1671
The sausage looks a bit messy because the bugger rolled out on me before I could snap the picture! And for being so simple, the salad was terrific. I only wish I had some vibrant green herbs on hand like parsley or cilantro. That would’ve been the icing on the cake. I also put back another mini Toblerone bar! IMG_1672

After dinner we made our way to the soccer field. It was just an assessment last night so the coaches could get a feel for the skill level of the boys in order to split them fairly into 6 teams. It was hot (not complaining!) and DS ran his booty off the whole hour. You could just see that he was in his element. I took a picture of his sweaty red face as we were leaving:IMG_1702
LOL!! My hubby and I had planned a pit stop for ice cream on the way home for DD’s b-day and it was the perfect treat! We just went to McDonalds…cheaper that way…where I got a strawberry sundae.IMG_1703
This was just the right size to cool me off without filling my belly too much. Ah….summer!!!

Breakfast this morning was “chock” full of blueberries:IMG_1705

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup Quaker oats
  • cinnamon
  • blueberries
  • Dorset cereal

IMG_1704

Morning snack was a pecan pie Lara Bar: IMG_1706

Here’s the stats from today’s walk.

  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 156
  • Max Hr: 173
  • Calories Torched: 432
  • Distance: 3 miles

My ankles were a little angry after this so I think I better stay mindful of that and not do anything incline related (yesterday and today were both at 7%) 2 days in a row.

I had a big bowl of corn & bean salad for lunch today. IMG_1707

I have a feeling my fam will be staying far away from me before long! ***wink*** I also ate some crisp grapes. IMG_1708

It’s suppose to rain a little later on so when I got home from work the first thing I did was transplant some potted plants into bigger pots. I plan to get the rest of the planting done this weekend. Dinner was relaxed tonight. We don’t generally feel like cooking by the time Friday rolls around. The fam had a Delissio pizza and I sautéed some spinach and orange pepper in garlic olive oil, topped it with 2 sunny side up eggs and brought up the side with some toasted whole grain bread, IMG_1709

How pretty does that look??? My sweet end was a lonely, forgotten Skinny Cow caramel & Vanilla bar that I found in the depths of the chest freezer. IMG_1710

It looks sad, but still tasted yummy. HA! We’re off now to take KC for a walk before the rain hits. I hope you all have a FABULOUS weekend!!!

Bye for now!!

Still Kicking Around

HOORAY for the weekend! I am so excited that it has finally arrived. This is the first weekend in quite awhile that we are somewhat hockey free. Not that I’m not enjoying it…I just need a mini break. :D 100_8217
-1 cup water
-1/2 cup kamut flakes
-cinnamon
-chocolate honey
-Enjoy Life Foods trail mix 100_8216
Work flowed along smoothly for a Friday. I enjoyed a few snacks to pass the time: 100_8222 100_8218 100_8219

I was stoked to find blood oranges at the store Thursday night. I love this fruit. Easy to peel, mildly sweet, no seeds. Perfection! And the Kind Bar was friggin outrageous! I’ve seen these pop up in my area more regularly lately but have been a little gun shy to try them. One whiff and I knew great things were to come for my taste buds. The prevailing flavour was coconut. Um…..YUM! I ate it as slow as possible, but it was really hard not to shove it in my mouth. I’ll be trying the other flavours real soon.

The sun was positively shining outside yesterday so the thought of going to the gym just made me feel claustrophobic. I made the executive decision to go home, let my fur babies out on the deck for some fresh air and to just chill for ¾ of an hour. I came back to my desk feeling rejuvenated. It really is amazing what the sunshine can do for you!

My lunch was kinda lame, but I still enjoyed it. “Cheesecake” in a cup! 100_8221

This is about 1 cup of goat’s milk yogurt with a scoop of black cherry/strawberry/blood orange jam. Divine!

I made turkey sausages for dinner using the George Foreman. Easy peasy. I also cut an orange cauliflower in florets and steamed it. Some mango wasabi sauce for dipping rounded out my meal: 100_8223

Looks kinda orange now that I see the picture! LOL! I had a scoop of maple walnut ice cream for dessert, but the flash wrecked the picture. Urgh!

We took in a “real” hockey game after dinner and didn’t get back home until after 10pm…hence no post! I pretty much went straight to bed.

I finally had an almond butter jar empty enough to get some OIAJ going this morning. 100_8228

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup Quaker oats
  • cinnamon
  • 2 medjool dates
  • carob chips

100_8227

Why is it, I wonder, that this mix tasted that much better out of a jar? Seriously, now! I guess it may just be the fun of it! :D

We spent almost 3 hours at the rink today for DS’s 2 hour practice + pizza party. I was so ready to go home. Sitting there gave me a crap ass headache. I turn into a sucky pants when I get a headache because I don’t often suffer them. Kudos to all you folks out there who get migraines!

Lunch was a very simple deal. A toasted Ezekiel English muffin topped with some allegro cheese, egg beaters and hot sauce. 100_8229

I chased it with a good cup of blueberries! 100_8230

For once in my life I did not want to go grocery shopping, but I absolutely had to. If I didn’t, the next available time would’ve been Friday and we just didn’t have enough basics to get us through. And wouldn’t you know that half my city HAD to be there, too. Well, it felt that way anyhow! Upon returning and putting everything away I sat down with a coffee and a small bowl of kettle corn flavoured mini rice cakes. 100_8231

Then my hubby got the great idea to mix a chocolate chip cookie mix with a PB cookie mix for chocolate PB cookies. 100_8235

I could hardly wait for them to cool off before eating one! YUM!

We decided to do Thai for dinner tonight. I ordered fresh spring rolls and my favourite, mango salad! 100_8237

This was a nice refreshing meal. And I have leftovers for tomorrow! As for tonight? I’m going to make a tea and watch some tube with the fam. Peace out!

Bye for now!!
