A Tame 2 Days

Hey everyone! Even though this is another 2 day recap, life has been pretty tame so this shouldn’t take too long. Breakfast yesterday was a bowl of Alpen cereal with USAB:IMG_1400

I warmed this in the microwave for about 45 seconds which made it even better tasting, IMO! IMG_1399

My pre gym snack was a Lara Bar: IMG_1401

My hips were acting a little cranky after my run on Wednesday so I decided that a walk on the treadmill would do the body good. I walked at 3.6 mph with a 4% incline.

  • Time: 50 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 140
  • Max Hr: 161
  • Distance: 3.4 miles

I needed to finish off the last bit of my goat’s milk yogurt before it went bad so I took that for my lunch. IMG_1402

There was about a 1/4 of that 2 cup container left. I mixed it with a scoop of Crofter’s Superfruit jam and topped it off with granola. IMG_1403

I know I’ve said it many times, but I LOVE this yogurt!! :) Later in the afternoon I ate some green grapes which were also on their last legs. (Yes, it’s grocery week!)IMG_1404

My hubby BBQ’d chicken breasts last night and while they were doing their thing I snacked on WAY too many of these babies…IMG_1405

I owe you guys a review if the Dr. Kracker products and I promise to have that up soon. Let’s just say that they’ve been disappearing at a fast pace! When dinner was finally ready to eat, this is what my plate looked like. IMG_1406

Asparagus is SO damn tasty right now!!! After dinner DD ran next door to grab KC and we took off for a nice 1/2 hour family walk. Perfect. We were home in time to watch CSI and Vampire Diaries. I made myself a little sweet end/snack to enjoy while watching. IMG_1407

A mocha and the last pumpkin muffin with some honey pecan butter melted on top. YUM!

I didn’t have to go into the office today as we had a PD Day session in the next town over which was a nice change. My co worker drove so didn’t even need to worry about directions. Before leaving a ate a hearty bowl of oats that I knew would stick to my ribs: IMG_1409

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup kamut flakes
  • cinnamon
  • raisins
  • PB&Co cinnamon raisin PB & a bit of honey pecan butter

IMG_1408

I was just starting to feel a bit hungry when lunch was served at noon. They had a bit of a Greek themed spread going on. IMG_1410

The bonuses of this meal was that it was 1) cooked on site 2) relatively healthy 3) fresh. The rice had potential as it was mixed with chickpeas and red lentils, but it lacked huge in the flavour department. I didn’t eat more than one bite. The salad had lots of avocado which I thought was great. Between that and the hard boiled eggs, I didn’t need any dressing. Dessert came in 2 parts. First was some fruit salad and a brownie: IMG_1411

And once I had the taste of chocolate in my mouth I went straight back for a freshly baked, still gooey chocolate chip cookie! IMG_1412

TOTALLY worth the splurge! All in all, the day was pretty fun! And I wasn’t home any later than I normally would’ve been. Dinner tonight was a SOL burger…IMG_1413

I stacked mine with dill pickle, Dijonnaise, ketchup, lettuce and ginger wasabi sauce. On the side was green beans and asparagus that I never got around to eating. IMG_1416

DS had a ball hockey game tonight which was definitely different from the ice hockey that we got used to over the winter! HA! He had a lot of fun and it’s nice that this isn’t as competitive for a change. Afterwards, my hubby treated us to DQ. Here’s DS digging into his treat:

IMG_1417

I got major stink eye once I took this! Hehe! I was going to get a small sundae, but once I saw that they had my favourite Blizzard flavour I quickly changed my mind! Here’s my Hawaiian; IMG_1418

Hmmm…looks like I had my fair share of goodies today!

DD and I just got back from another walk with KC. It’s a glorious night out there! I hope the weekend stays warm and wonderful. I’m off to suck back some water. Ice cream always makes me crave water.

Bye for now!!

BABIES!!!

**Did you miss my First Communion Recap? I wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments on that post. I let DS read them and they sure put a smile on his face!

Happy Wednesday! It seems like lately I’ve become an “every other day” blogger. HA! I usually start my posts through Word at work and then copy and paste the bulk of it into WLW later on in the evening, but seeing as work has been really busy the past week I haven’t had a chance to get a head start. Also, now that I’m not out every single night of the week with the kids, I kinda enjoy just hanging out. Anyways, I’ve got some “house cleaning” to get through in this post and seeing as life has pretty much been eat, work, sleep the past few days, I figure it’s a good time to get at it! But first, here’s yesterday’s breakfast: IMG_1380
Gotcha! Bet you were expecting oats, right? And with good reason. I was running a bit behind yesterday morning so I grabbed a bowl of this here cereal. IMG_1378 IMG_1379
DD is the only one at our house that doesn’t appreciate this stuff and that’s because she’s not a fan of the dried fruit. Her loss. LOL!!

At break time yesterday morning my co worker was telling me that her 18yr old daughter was let go from her job on Monday…through Facebook. Seriously? Maybe I’m behind the times and this is how employers deal with terminations now, but I personally think that is the scardy cat way out. Thoughts? Has this ever happened to anyone you know? Holy smokes!

My snack before the gym yesterday was a Special K bar: IMG_1381
Sheesh, these guys are tiny! I’ve also been making good use of my new Starbuck’s to go cup by getting my H2O in! IMG_1382

I ellipticaled my way through a great workout.

Time: 45 minutes
Avg Hr: 162
Max Hr: 175
Calories Torched: 483
Distance: 4.9m

I enjoyed a yummy lunch, too. I brought the leftover sautéed veggies, a couple falafels, a flatout wrap and a mixture of goat’s milk yogurt and minced cucumber. Here it is pre wrap: IMG_1383
And all rolled up! IMG_1384
The flavour blend was amazing. I was sad to see the last bite! I also ate a good 2 cups of sliced strawberries: IMG_1385
SWEET!

*Newsflash* We have some new babies on the farm!!! This little dolly, Cinderelle Ella, was born 2 weeks ago: ella
Doesn’t she look like a little unicorn with that tuff of white on her forehead? And this little dude, name still unknown, was born last Thursday.

horseapril21
What a handsome fella!! My MIL says a few more mares are due within the next few weeks so I’ll be sure to post photos as I get them.

Dinner was rushed last night because the kidlets had dental appointments after work and I didn’t get home until 5:10. I need to leave the house by 5:30 to get to Pilates!! I quickly warmed up some WW couscous, a chicken sausage and green beans. Then I dumped some wasabi ginger sauce on top. IMG_1386
Did the trick! When I arrived home from Pilates I had the urge to bake so I made some pumpkin muffins that were based on this Hungry Girl recipe. IMG_1389
(This was today’s morning snack!) The biggest change I made was turn what was a loaf into 12 muffins. I also nixed the Splenda and used a ¼ cup of agave. Lastly, I left out the craisins and added a 1/4 cup each of dark chocolate chips and pecan pieces. Needless to say, they came out smashing!

I was back to my oats this morning! IMG_1388
-2/3 cup water
-1/3 cup Quaker oats
-cinnamon
-blueberries
-Dorset cereal IMG_1387
You already saw what my morning snack looked like so how about I show you an award that I received from Coco! award2
Thank you Coco for not only this award, but for your informative posts, your honest product reviews and your zest for life in general! You are an inspiration to me.

I went for a run on the treadmill today. I ran at 5.8mph which my brain feels is not fast enough, but my body likes. So my brain will just have to get over itself because I don’t need any more injuries like my ankles last year! Also the last 5 minutes I walked at 4.2mph with a 7% incline.

Time: 45 minutes
Avg Hr: 168
Max Hr: 180
Calories Torched: 483
Distance: 4.2 miles

For lunch I ate a grilled veggie and goat cheese panini from Lean Cuisine: IMG_1391 IMG_1390
I haven’t had one of these in almost a year! It was pretty good although I could’ve done without the eggplant. *yuck*. I picked most of it off. I also had some banana bread from the staff kitchen: IMG_1393
This was indeed a “normal” sized piece, but I ate most of it before I got back to my desk. *blush* I also ate some more strawberries before I left for home: IMG_1394

The kids and I have been ploughing through strawberries like nobody’s business lately! LOL!

I made a HUGE stirfry for dinner tonight. I had some veggies that absolutely had to be used…..4 red peppers, 6 green onions, an 8oz package of mushrooms and some pineapple. I sautéed the veggies using water, a 1/4 cup at a time, until they were tender. Then I added pork from kabobs that I got at the farmers' market and froze and the last turkey sausage, chopped up. When we get Chinese take out I always freeze the leftover soy dipping sauce so I thawed that out, thinned it with a bit of water and OJ and used that as the sauce. This concoction was served over rice noodles. IMG_1397

Even though DD picked out the red peppers and DS picked out ALL the veg, this meal was a hit and there was only enough leftover for my hubby’s lunch. Score! My sweet end was a chocolate chip All Bran bar with a side of cat:IMG_1398

We just got back from the pool (swimming lessons) and I’m munching on the last of the pineapple: IMG_1395

Yum! One last thing….Krista’s Kravings made an appearance over at Women’s Day new blog!!! Check it out! :) I think I’ll let you all off the hook now. :) Thanks for reading and I’ll catch ya all later!

Bye for now!!

First Communion Recap

Howdy! I took lots of pictures yesterday, so I’ll just get to it, K? Yesterday morning was a gloriously lazy one. As in I didn’t even get out of my PJ’s until 1pm! I enjoyed my breakfast at a leisurely pace: IMG_1317

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rye flakes
  • raisins
  • cinnamon
  • granola
  • kefir

IMG_1316

I attempted to catch up with blog reading over the course of the morning. I actually made a decent sized dent. Before long it was time to eat some lunch. I wanted to keep it light because I knew we were having a big dinner. I ate more salad with the last of my honey mustard dressing from Manon. IMG_1320

I also had a chocolate chip All Bran bar: IMG_1321

We were all prettied up and ready to hit the church on time. I managed a few shots before the service; IMG_1330 IMG_1322 IMG_1327 IMG_1336 IMG_1338

The kids all did a great job singing the songs they learned and behaving like ladies and gentlemen. DD was able to get some shots of the group. Here’s one of them. IMG_1335

The mass was done in enough time for all our family to head over to the restaurant for dinner. I had a set menu per se so everybody started off with a salad. Check out the neat presentation! IMG_1356

That “shell” was spectacular! Light, crisp and just a touch of salt. The choices for the main entree were baseball sirloin or half a Cajun style chicken (both served with roasted potatoes and veggies) or seafood fettuccini. I went with the chicken for my meal. Along with the potatoes and veg, it was served with some delicious jalapeno corn bread. IMG_1358

So delicious!!! Dessert for everybody was a cake that I brought from the bakery. I forgot to take a photo of the cake before it was cut, but here is my piece… IMG_1363

Everyone enjoyed their meals and it was fun to catch up with everyone. Here are a few pictures from the restaurant: IMG_1368

We got home from the restaurant shortly after 7pm and practically dove into our PJ’s. BLISS!!! I watched the Amazing Race (GO cowboys!!) and some other random TV before hitting the sack.

And here we are at Monday again. Is it just me or are the weeks really flying by??? Here’s today’s bowl of oats. IMG_1371

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup Quaker oats
  • cinnamon
  • raisins
  • carob chips, pecan pieces and kefir

IMG_1369

Work was extremely busy today because I had Friday off to go to Toronto. Days off are always something that we pay for, eh? Sheesh! I’m on 11:30 lunch today so that came around real quick. I munched on an oatmeal raisin walnut Clif bar, courtesy of Sara: IMG_1372

At the gym I completed an intense incline walk. (4mph, 7% incline)

  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 168
  • Max Hr: 183
  • Calories Torched: 495
  • Distance: 3 miles

I was SO sweaty after this walk. The treadmill I was on seems to be calibrated differently than the other because this same walk seems much harder on the one I was using.

I enjoyed a favourite for lunch today…goat’s milk yogurt!! I had about 1 cup with a tbsp of honey stirred in. Fresh strawberries and granola topped it off. IMG_1373

I never got around to an afternoon snack. Probably because I sipped on this huge iced coffee throughout the afternoon!! IMG_1374

Mmmmmm…

I whipped up some pasta for the fam tonight using some sauce that I had pulled out of the freezer this morning. I dug into my leftovers from dinner last night. What? You didn’t think I polished off that huge plate, did you? LOL!! IMG_1375

I also sautéed some red peppers, onion and kale which is what you see in the bottom right corner. Great meal. And to finish it off I had another piece of cake. IMG_1376

Thankfully, only 4 pieces came home with us so that is now a cake of the past!! I don’t really have any plans for the rest of the night which is pretty swell as far as I’m concerned. While this is publishing I’m gonna make a sugar cookie tea to sip on as I enjoy my night of nothingness….

Bye for now!!
