Pilate’s & Biggest Loser

Well, I made it into work today! I’m SO, so relieved that DD was feeling more like her self when she woke up. Especially after reading THIS article this morning. Those 2 poor babies are right around her age! She ate a good breakfast, took her med’s like a champ and was excited to get back to school. Thank the heavens for that.

I got myself to bed at 9:15pm last night knowing that I needed to catch up on my own zzz’s, but that damn New Moon kept me up until 11pm anyways! Yikes! I must’ve slept enough regardless because I felt pretty good this morning. Breakfast may have been a factor in that! 100_6817

-1 cup coffee
-1/3 cup oat bran
-raisins
-cashew butter
-Enjoy Life Foods trail mix 100_6816

Seeing as today was my Monday and I had a back log of work to catch up on, the day flew right on by. Pre gym snack of the day was a Clif PB&J dipped Mojo bar; 100_6819 100_6821

JUST like a PB&J sandwich with out the bothersome bread! Loved it.

I’m guilty of trying to talk myself out of a run today and to use the elliptical instead, but then I read Leah’s post about how great she felt after her 4 miler and the deal was sealed!

Time: 45 minutes
Avg Hr: 161
Max Hr: 181
Calories Torched: 469
Distance: 4.5 miles

And, yes….I was very glad afterwards to have run!

Lunch was some leftover jade grain blend… 100_6822

With some broccoli; 100_6823

All I added to this was a wee pat of butter and some salt. Gotta have those 2 things with anything kind of rice because that’s how my Mom made it when I was a kid. I use to love when she made rice as a base for stew or chili because her rice was always so flavourful. Good ole saltiness!

Afternoon snack-a-roo was a huge honey crisp apple. 100_6824

I only have one left so I’ll be buying more this weekend for sure. I think the season is almost over for them which is too sad for me to even contemplate. :(

We BBQ’d some turkey sausages tonight which I served with the rest of the green beans from the other night. The fam had some packaged noodles, too so I decided to mix up a 1/2ish cup of red kidney beans with a scoop of TJ’s spinach sauce. It turned out fantastic! Here’s my plate;

And just as a reminder, here’s what the jar of sauce looks like. 100_6825

I scarfed back 2 of Allie’s aprican bites on my way out the door to Pilate’s. Hence no photo!

Speaking of Pilate’s…..at some point this class turned into a sweet kind of torture. By the time the hour is up every muscle in my body, but especially my core area, is trembling. OW-WEE! Mind you, that is what I paid for!

I’ve just settled in with 3 strawberry pumpkin coconut bites with some macadamia nut butter; 100_6828

to watch The Biggest Loser. After that will be straight to bed for me. :D

Bye for now!!

It’s A Wrap

The weekend, that is! It seems like I snapped my fingers and it disappeared. I enjoyed a bit of a sleep in today and then ate a great breakie; 100_6673

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup Sunrise Blend w/ quinoa
  • cinnamon
  • banana
  • blueberries
  • Enjoy Life Foods kaleMountain Mix trail mix

Can you say, “YUM”?!

It was cold enough this morning that we had to pull out our winter coats to go to the farm. YIKES! There was a thick layer of frost on everything, too. Not cool.

Lunch was a pizza! I topped a flatout wrap with TJ’s spinach sauce, leftover chopped up kale, carrots and some pepper jack cheese. I popped it in the oven at 350* for 10 mins. 100_6676

It crisped up enough that once cut into 3 pieces I could hold it like regular pizza. I really liked these ingredients together.

After lunch we made a quick trip to Costco. I’ve been seeing these cute little peppers on Allie’s blog so when I saw them there today I snatched a bag. 100_6677

Too cute! I was a little hungry when we got home and dinner was still 2+ hours away so I snacked on a PB Z-bar; 100_6678

I spent a few hours reading Twilight. Still can’t put the damn book down. DD wants to read it when I’m done, but I’m not convinced that at 10 and a half she’s ready for it. There’s certainly nothing inappropriate in it, but there is definitely a sexual undertone. What do you guys think? Should I let her read it? I’m really on the fence with this!!

This morning we borrowed my in laws carpet cleaner to deal with some pet “spots”. We’ve been here 2 years and for the first had 2 cats, the second, 3 so some areas needed refreshing! While my hubby took care of that I took advantage of the couches being moved out of the way and vacuumed behind them. Aren't I bucket loads of fun?! :D

Dinner was a beer butt chicken and roasted (on the BBQ) potatoes. There were also 3 bella peppers on my plate but I only ate the orange one! 100_6679

Not such good presentation, eh? Eeek! Dessert was a piece of my Banana Cranberry Pumpkin Cake with a dollop of cranberry sauce on top; 100_6680

For the record, this was dessert the past 2 nights in a row. I didn’t post it because by the time I ate it the sun had gone down and the flash did not do it any justice. My Mom loved this, too, and ended up taking 3 pieces home last night. YAY!

I received another awesome award late last week from Faith! THANK YOU!!

Getting awards from fellow blogger who themselves have great blogs always makes me so happy!

The kids just popped Over The Hedge in and once that is over The Amazing Race will be on. Yes, another night spent on the couch. In my defence, here’s what my week’s looking like;

  • Monday: dance & hockey
  • Tuesday: pilates
  • Wednesday: hockey and swimming
  • Thursday: skating lessons
  • Friday: hockey game in another town that’s 1.5hrs away
  • Saturday: hockey game in town

HA! What do your schedules look like this week?

Bye for now!!

Couch Potato

It was a toughie getting out of bed this morning! I was so warm and cozy under the covers. *sigh* I made sure that breakfast made it all worth while, though! 100_6597

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup Quaker oats
  • cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice
  • cranberries
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • almond butter
  • chocolate honey

100_6596

Work was busy so that part of the day went lickity split. Before the gym I munched happily away on a gorgeous, delicious, organic honey crisp apple;100_6598

Honey crisp is hands down my favourite breed of apple. Crispy, sweet, firm…YUM! I paired the apple with some nuts; 100_6599

I had a good run today. The last 10 minutes felt like 400, but it was still good! :)

  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 158
  • Max Hr: 177
  • Calories Torched: 452
  • Distance: 4.5 miles

The whole time I was running I was thinking about my lunch. I was pretty eager to dig into another helping of quinoa stew. It was even better today, as most stews tend to be! 100_6600

This meal has so many flavours and textures going on so for a girl who likes a party in her mouth, this is heaven in a bowl…or Tupperware container in this case! :)

DS had hockey practice from 5-6 tonight that I knew I’d be going to so I ate a piece of apple butter bread about 4ish; 100_6601

I hadn’t been to a practice in a bit and was glad to have gone. To be quite honest, I really enjoy the social aspect that hockey has brought with it! I know that DS lurves his carbs after being on the ice so I had planned a pasta dinner for the fam. Seeing as I already had the sauce in the freezer, it was just a matter of boiling the noodles and nuking the sauce. For myself there was a small spaghetti squash with some TJ’s Spinach sauce…here it is; 100_6603

And a side of kale chips. Mmmmm….. 100_6604

Trust ne when I say that it tasted WAY better than the picture would indicate!! Dessert was a piece of pumpkin coconut chocolate chip bar with some almond butter spread on top. 100_6605

Fan-taste-ic! SYTYCD Canada is on followed by The Biggest Loser. Looks like I’ll be in front of the TV again tonight! Swimming starts up again tomorrow night so I won’t be parked on the couch…promise! Catch ya tomorrow!

Bye for now!!
