Time for a Holiday

Hi everybody!   Hope your weekend is going well!  I’ve got 3 days of eats to cover so I think I’ll just get to it….
Thursday
I had a dentist appointment first thing (ugh) so I had a quick bowl of cereal before giving my teeth some extra attention.IMG_2648 This is the Kirkland cinnamon pecan cereal:IMG_2647 Very good indeed!  I snacked on the last Kardea bar before going to the gym:IMG_2649 Thursday was 30 Day Shred day at the gym and 4 of us sweat and grunted through it.  :)  Later on in the day I ordered the Jillian Michaels “No Trouble Zones” DVD.  I’ve seen it around blog land and heard good reviews so I’m eager to try it out!
Thursday and Friday were still clean-out-the fridge-and-pantry days so my lunch morphed into a salad of sorts.IMG_2659 Corn, edamame, cucumber, feta and white balsamic vinegar.  Turned out pretty decent!  I really didn’t get hungry for an afternoon snack, but whipped up an amazing little dinner for myself.  IMG_2652 WW pita, lettuce, mayo, dijon and falafels.  Yummy!  I munched on  blueberries, too;IMG_2651 Thursday night was soccer night and SYTYCD night.  I was pretty tuckered out so a night in front of the tube was needed.   This asthma business of mine seems to be taking a lot out of me and I don’t like it.  *sigh*
Friday
It was a rainy morning and I just wanted some comfort food.  Enter my dark chocolate cherry mocha oats:IMG_2657 IMG_2656 Doesn’t that just look divine?  This is probably my favourite bowl of oats ever.  Thank you Starbucks for the inspiration!!  :)
Morning snack looked like this:IMG_2658 I’m still not over the moon about these bars.   Have any of you tried them??
I hoped on the treadmill for a sweaty incline walk on the treadmill.  I set the incline to 7.5% and the speed to 4.2.  Thirty five minutes later saw me pretty red in the face!  LOL
I was getting pretty desperate when it came time to pack my lunch and ended up with goat’s milk yogurt, blueberries and Bear Naked granola.  There was also pear ginger jam mixed into the yogurt:IMG_2650 Aside from eggs, yogurt and granola is a go-to meal for me.  Tell me your favourite go-to meal, K?  A co worker brought in some carrot cake after lunch and I took a small piece.  IMG_2660 Mmmm…not so good.  For some reason it tasted like there were grains of sand in it.  I ate it to be polite….I’m not feelings hurter!  How’s that for improper grammar??  LOL
My hubby finally broke and bought oven ready pizza for supper.  The one he picked for me was a thin crust with spinach, feta, mozzarella and edam: IMG_2661
I enjoyed this so much I had a third piece!  The crust was light and crispy and reminded me of a croissant.   After dinner I finally went to do groceries.  I was a little scared that I would have to spend a fortune, but the bill wasn’t much more than what I usually spend.   Once again I was exhausted by 9pm and just got comfy on the couch with a book.  T’was nice!
Today
After a glorious 10hr sleep I awoke fresh and ready to tackle the day.  I was quite hungry so another bowl of cereal was definitely the way to goIMG_2662 This is a fave of mine; Wildroots.  YUM!  We spent a good chunk of the day pulling weeds.  They’re much easier to get out when the ground is wet.  We’re planning on extending our walkout deck so my hubby took all the measurements needed for the job.  After showers and a quick lunch of salad and the last piece of pizza…IMG_2663 We went to Home Depot to price out the wood and somehow ended up at Walmart.  Backing up to my salad a minute….I used the last 3 falafels and dressed it with some Renee’s pear & blue cheese dressing;
IMG_2664
At Walmart I came across a very appealing sounding Hershey’s chocolate bar that HAD to come home with me!IMG_2665
BOOYA!!!  For dinner we did a beer butt chicken, quinoa and corn:IMG_2675 Dessert was some homemade pineapple coconut froyo.IMG_2677   Oh, yes I did!!!  More on that to come very soon.
So I’m very excited because we start 2 weeks of vacay on Monday!  YIPEE!!  I plan on kicking back and having a great time while off…IMG_2667 And maybe getting a bit goofy, too.IMG_2668
Should be a riot!!
Bye for now!!

It’s been Like This

Hello, everybody! I’ve still been spending copious amount of time outside. Despite some people being over this heat wave, I’m still loving it! They’re calling for rain later on and tomorrow and I guess we do need it. *sigh*

Breakfasts have been hot:IMG_2420

  • 1 cup water, 1/3 cup oats, raspberries, raspberry truffle coffee powder and mocha hazelnut sprinkles

They’ve also been cold,IMG_2431

  • 1 cup USVAB, 3/4 cup cooked quinoa, 2 tbsp chia seeds, cinnamon, Enjoy Life Foods beach bash trail mix left to thicken in fridge overnight

Morning snacks have been good!IMG_2432

And not so good…

IMG_2421

This bar got better as I ate it, but at first I thought it tasted really grassy, not chocolaty and it didn’t smell too good, either. Meh, I’d eat it in a pinch, but won’t be running out to buy it any time soon. I have another flavour to try yet and I hope its better.

Gym workouts have been old AND new routines:

  • Time: 35 minutes (treadmill; 20 min walk, 15 min run)
  • Avg Hr: 160
  • Max Hr: 179
  • Calories Torched: 364
  • Distance: 2.9 miles

IMG_2435

  • Time: 30 minutes (30 Day Shred on my laptop from home)
  • Avg Hr: 138
  • Max Hr: 169
  • Calories Torched: 217

Me waiting for the previews to run through:IMG_2433

I enjoyed doing the shred at work and will be bringing my laptop twice a week to do it. The other 2 days will be cardio.

Lunches have been typical:IMG_2422

And random:IMG_2436

Afternoon snacks have be berry good. :)IMG_2424 IMG_2437

My hubby has been working a lot of overtime this week so I’ve been on my own with the kidlets for dinner. The BBQ has been my friend! Chicken last night that luxuriated for 24hrs in Averie’s Mango marinade, sautéed mushroom and red peppers and quinoa:IMG_2425

The quinoa had extra coconut mango sauce on top. Averie’s marinade was out of this world. She used it on tofu, but I know she won’t diss me for dressing my chicken with it! ;) Tonight was hotdog and mac n cheese night for the kids, my dinner was a green one:IMG_2442

Random snacking has looked kinda like this:IMG_2448 IMG_2418 IMG_2426 IMG_2438

Just not in this order! My evenings have been spent lounging on the deck like this:IMG_2429

And at the soccer field….yes, I finally took some pictures!!!IMG_2444 IMG_2445 IMG_2443

And as Bug’s Bunny liked to say, “That’s all, folks”!!

Bye for now!!

Puppy Love

Today was a much better day than yesterday was! I drank loads of water last night, put my feet up and had a solid sleep. Although I was sad to miss Pilates, looking back on it today I know it was absolutely the right decision. It was steamy here again today which is the type of weather I thrive on. Give me a fire anytime! I get cranky when I’m cold! I had a refreshing breakfast of goat’s milk yogurt, Crofters blueberry superfruit jam, wheatberries (which I cooked up last night) and fresh blueberries:IMG_1786
My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach because I couldn’t finish it all!

My hubby is on vacation this week so it’s extra hard to come into work. On the flip side, he did finish painting the bathroom yesterday! I just have to buy a new window covering, shower curtain and some art work this weekend and then I’ll post a picture. Let’s just say that I totally LOVE the shade of blue that I picked! YAY!

I deliberately ate my chocolate raspberry Luna bar slowly today so I could savour eat bite. This flavour is second only to chocolate peppermint stick! ;) IMG_1787

I had a nice elliptical workout today. Young Pup was in there again so we chatted it up for a good half hour which helped pass the time. I don’t know how that boy can run at a good clip and talk at the same time. Must be his youth!! ;)

Time: 45 minutes
Avg Hr: 159
Max Hr: 180
Calories Torched: 459
Distance: 5 miles

I’m a very visual person so I always keep track of time spent being active….be it in the gym or the garden. Having my activity on paper makes it seem more “real” somehow. Yes, I’m a dork. Here’s an example of how I track:IMG_1791
It’s basically the same as what I post on the blog. Do you track your workouts? If so, why?

Lunch was a great little salad I whipped up last night:IMG_1789
Wheatberries, red bell pepper, avocado, Yves Veggie dog, white balsamic vinegar, S&P. This had great flavour, great textures…an all around winner!

I also snacked on some chocolate covered powerberries throughout the day:IMG_1788
I’m pretty sure the bag won’t last long. They’re just like Welch’s fruit snacks covered in chocolate. YUM! I also ate some grapes.IMG_1792

Dinner was a massive salad with spinach, yellow bell pepper, tomato, cucumber, goat cheese and falafels(which were cut in half).IMG_1795

This is the dressing I used.IMG_1793

There was also some grilled asparagus, fresh from the organic farm just outside of town,IMG_1794

The fam had tacos and when all the shells were gone DS decided to make himself a “taco” salad that he wanted me to take a picture of.IMG_1797

After dinner DD and I went to the nursery to buy my veggie plants and some potting soil. While we were there we had the pleasure of playing with this lovely lady!IMG_1798

She’s a precious 4 weeks old and we could’ve stayed with her for hours! Here she is with DD:IMG_1799

Wonder if I can talk my hubby into one? LOL! When we got back I had a little bit of dessert. My hubby bought me some Skinny Cow fudge bars which ended up being the perfect treat on a hot day.IMG_1800 What did I do while I ate this? Observed DS watering the plants for me! IMG_1805 IMG_1802 IMG_1803

Child labour right there!!! :)

Bye for now!!
