Weeding Exhaustion

Today was hot, hot, hot. Just how I like it! I started my Sunday out with a cool breakfast; 100_5727

  • single serve container of Fage
  • 1/2 cup TJ’s blueberry muesli
  • drizzle of agave

100_5726

Perfect meal for the weather….and very filling, too!

We went out to the farm today for the first time in a few weeks. I was in horsey withdrawal! My little Lacey is a big girl now. She’s out in the pasture with all the other Mom’s and babies. Here’s the little doll face; 100_5733

She was all about giving kisses today! Behind her is another way cool horse….Mister; 100_5728

Gotta love the markings on him, eh?

I made a great lunch as soon as we got home. I utilized a bunch of leftovers to make a “quesadilla”. WW wrap, broc dip, LC cheese, beer butt chicken and grilled zucchini; 100_5741

On the side was some orange and yellow bell pepper strips, carrot sticks, yellow cherry tomatoes from the garden and the last of the broc dip. T’was a fabulous lunch! 100_5740

Then I enjoyed a juicy peach from the market; 100_5743

I <3 peach season in Ontario!!!

I spent the next hour and 45 minutes pulling weeds. OMG….did that ever wipe me out! My gardens look great now, though! It was one of those times where I felt great while at it, but as soon as I sat down….BAM……exhaustion hit me like a sledge hammer. I put my HRM on for shits and giggles and was shocked to see 361 calories gone! Holy smokes! I wasn’t at all hungry but knew I needed some fuel in me so I pulled out this green drink that I picked up at TJ’s last weekend;

100_5747

I’m not very good at drinking my calories….never have been….so I poured about half of this bottle into a glass instead of chugging some straight from it. I also had an iced Stash coconut mango tea that I had made earlier in the day; 100_5752

The juice was good, but s-w-e-e-t. I’m glad I only poured what I did because it was a little overwhelming by the end of the glass. That being said, I would buy it again if I had the chance and just drink it in smaller amounts because it had some great ingredients going on.

After sitting in a catatonic state on the front porch for a good hour, it was time to get some supper going. A while back we had bought a club pack of sausages and BBQ’d the whole batch, then froze them into single dinner servings. I pulled out one of these for the fam and had my hubby throw a leftover veggie Portobello & Swiss burger on the grill for me. I plopped it on a multi grain Arnold Thin with some chipotle mustard and raw marinara sauce. On the side was the second half of last night’s sweet potato and another candy cane beet. 100_5753

Another home run dinner….and just to throw it out of the ball park? Cappuccino fro-yo with chocolate espresso flakes for dessert! :D

We visited my parents after dinner and I slammed back a bottle of water and 2 cookies while there. Left to do on today’s list is lunch for me and one for DS as his hockey camp starts tomorrow (8:30-4:30), getting my gym clothes ready to go and chilling on the deck as long as I can before the bugs come out to play. I hope you all had a fab weekend…

Bye for now!!

Is It Friday Yet?

Man, this sure feels like a long week. Coming back from vacation can be tough. I fuelled up for the day with a nutrient packed pancake breakfast! I added a packet of Amazing Grass to the mixture for an extra kick;

100_5670

I find this is that tastiest way to down this stuff! :) And it turns the pancakes a cool shade of green! 100_5672

On top of these babies you will see blueberries and chopped walnuts that I added just before flipping: 100_5671

Once on the plate they got coated with a layer of Crofter’s South America Superfruit jam. The perfect syrup substitute! The base of fruit in this particular jam is maqui & passion fruit blended with morello cherries and red grapes. Click on the link to learn all the health benefits of the maqui berry….you won’t be sorry you took the time! Crofter’s jam has no preservatives in it either making it a clean eating choice, for sure!

I was happy at the end of the work day because I finished up the first leg of a big project that was waiting for me on my desk Tuesday morning. I snacked on this container of grapes & watermelon all day; 100_5673

And just before going to the gym I ate pat of this Clif Mountain Mix Mojo bar.

100_5674

I liked this bar so much that I bought a box of them in Michigan last weekend! The other bit was enjoyed in the afternoon.

My run was a toughie today! My legs were feeling the burn, I tell ya! I ran 4 miles in just under 38 minutes and then walked until the 45 minute mark. I also did some stretching before and after.

  • Time: 50 minutes
  • Avg Hr: 170
  • Max Hr: 186
  • Calories Burned: 488
  • Distance: 4.36 miles

Lunch was a bit of a mixed bag. I brought some more Can’t Believe It’s Not Potato Salad ; 100_5678

What a crappy photo! Yikes! Then I ate the last 2 polenta rounds with some raw marinara on top; 100_5676

There’s another hiding under there, I swear!!! :D

I saw a recipe for broccoli dip at Itzy’s Kitchen that I had all the ingredients for, so I whipped some up when I got home. I followed what Erica did, but I had no salsa and I used parsley instead of cilantro. 100_5679

What a tasty dip! I chopped up some yellow & orange pepper sticks and carrots to go along side it; 100_5680

For the main part of my dinner I thoroughly enjoyed a vegetarian Portobello Swiss burger on an Arnold thin with Sabra jalapeno hummus, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mustard, ketchup, lettuce & pickles. 100_5681

Holy Hannah….I did not want this burger to end! It was insanely good! I had cut up a cantaloupe and washed up some grapes for the dinner table as well, but I was too stuffed to eat any of it. I saved what was left for my lunch tomorrow.

DS and I took K.C. for a walk as soon as we were done eating because I knew that once I sat down, I wouldn’t be getting back up! I’m pretty beat out. The weekend can’t come soon enough for this Chiquita! I’ll be putting my lunch together very soon and then sitting down with my Clean Eating mag. I plan on hitting the hay no later than 10pm tonight. Zzzzzzz……

Bye for now!!

Sunning & Reading

We ended up kicking back and relaxing at home today. My hubby over did it on the banana soft serve last night and let’s just say that he didn’t have a pleasant night! His warning to you? 2 bananas + 1/2 a cup of berries (1 hour before going to bed) = a very unhappy tummy! :D

Here’s my breakfast; 100_5446

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup Windy Hill Foods cremo cereal
  • cinnamon
  • blueberries
  • sprinkle of dorset cereal

100_5445

I’m still in awe at how full this cereal makes me….and keeps me for hours!

Shortly after eating we all went for a LONG bike ride. 14km (9miles) to be exact. My hubby and I have done it in an hour flat. With the kids, it took 1.5hrs. Considering the distance, both kids did fantastic! DS was getting a little cranky by the end of it, but he’s still getting use to a new bike with gears. Our neighbour kinda raised her eyebrows a bit when I told her the route we took, but I am a firm believer in keeping my kids active. That being said, we’d never make them go further than we know they can and there is always lots of water for longer distances. I wish more people would get active with their kids. I think that’s such a stepping stone to building their self confidence as teenagers.

Moving along here, the long ride gave me plenty of time to think up a fantastic lunch and by the time I got to my kitchen I was practically drooling! I made a “panini” using a WW Arnold Thin, LC cheese, Sabra jalapeno hummus, chicken breast, grilled zucchini and lettuce. On the side was the rest of the grilled zucchini… 100_5448

and 2 cinnamon honey coated mini blueberry muffins for dessert; 100_5449

All together now!! 100_5447

What a fantastic lunch! I was a total bum for the next 4 hours on the deck in the sunshine with my book. The kids went to play baseball at the park with the neighbour kids and my hubby was doing some man stuff around the house. Oh, how relaxing that was!

Dinner was just as delicious as lunch! My hubby bought me some PC vegetarian Portobello/Swiss cheese burgers; 100_5451

I popped it on a WW bun with hickory BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, tomato, pickle & lettuce. On the side was the rest of the mater that I cut up along with a few yellow cherry tomatoes from the garden. 100_5450

Although today was sunny, it was very windy. I realized just how windy at DS’s soccer game. Man, was it ever whipping through that open space of a field! I was glad to have put a blanket in the Jeep….it came in handy. Next Monday is his last game of the season. Where, I ask you, did the past 10 weeks go?

I treated myself to a bit of dessert when we got back home. I enjoyed 2 scoops of this tasty froyo that my hubby brought home.

100_5452

Nom, nom, nom! It’s 9pm now and I’m going to watch some TV with the man. We have a few ideas on places to go tomorrow, but the weather will decide which we choose. I’m really hoping to be able to do something outdoors so my fingers are crossed for some sunshine!

Bye for now!!
