A Sad Day

We had another fall like day out there today. I feel like I keep waiting for summer and it’s not coming. Ah, well…at least I enjoyed a protein packed b-fast!

  • 1/2 cup water & USAB
  • 1/3 cup Quaker oats
  • egg whites
  • cinnamon, vanilla
  • raisins
  • Sahale snack mix-walnut

This was SO creamy! I loved every bite of it.

The reason I needed the extra protein in my breakfast today is because I knew I wouldn’t be getting a chance for a morning snack today. As the post title says, it was a sad day for us. Our next door neighbour passed away unexpectedly last Friday from surgery complications. He found out in March that he was suffering from a very rare form of liver cancer and that surgery was the only hope for survival. He came out of the operation OK, but the remaining part of his liver did not thrive and ultimately failed. He did not want a typical funeral, but a “celebration of life” so that is what we did with many others this morning. :(

I had to be back to work by 1pm and we left around 12:30 so I popped into Mr. Sub for a quick sandwich. I haven’t been there in years. I wasn’t sure what to get so I ordered a 6” turkey on multigrain. No cheese, but lots of veg. I couldn’t really figure out kind of sauces they had so I didn’t have any.

They had the grilling option which I jumped on. Can’t get that at Subway. Other than that, it was just meh. I think I’ll be sticking to Subway from now on. As a bit of dessert I enjoyed one of my Cherry Pistachio Cookies.

The afternoon flew by and I couldn’t be more pleased. When I got home I snacked on some honeydew melon chunks…

Man, I love this type of melon! So sweet and refreshing. Dinner ended up being burgers because I forgot to pull something out of the freezer to thaw this morning. I had a St. Yves chick’n burger on an Ezekiel English muffin with Sabra hummus, Dijon mustard, BBQ sauce, pickle and a slice of pepper Jack cheese. On the side was a wedge of kabocha with some more mustard for dipping;

My sweet end was a Cravings cheesecake in key lime!

This is my favourite one by far. Unfortunately, it’s also the last one! I’m gonna have to do something about that for sure.

Well, the sun has decided to peek out so I think I’m going to go take advantage of that before the clouds take over again. Good news, though…tomorrow’s FRIDAY! Yippee!

Bye for now!!
