Dark Day, Bright Food

This morning was very dark and dreary, but I was 100% OK with that because it was raining instead of snowing!!! My elation may sound strange to some, but the rain and warmer temps (11 degrees Celsius today) will melt the mass amounts of snow that have accumulated over the past few months. The only draw back was that some of the roads were quite slick on my drive to work.

My eats today were all very bright, though! I started of with a colourful breakfast;

-1 cup water
-1/2 cup Bob Red Mill 5 Grain cereal
-1/2 mashed banana
-5 chopped up strawberries
-handful of blueberries
-cinnamon
-sprinkle of Enjoy Life Foods “No Nuts Mountain Mambo” granola

YUM, yum, yum!!! This meal was fabulous!!! I’m so glad that berries are slowly coming down in price as their season approaches. I’ve missed their sweetness!

Not that I really needed it, but I had a hankering for something crunchy last night so I had a small snack….about a ½ cup of Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon cereal.

I love all the different “shapes” in this cereal!! And it’s not overly sweet so your teeth won’t hurt eating it! Just as a side note…I rarely eat cereal with milk. I much prefer it dry!

Have you heard about the giveaway that Beadie is hosting over at What I Ate Yesterday??? One lucky reader will have the chance to win a bottle of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce! I can think of lots of ways to use this stuff!!

I snacked on 4 medjool dates and a Stash tea before I hit the gym…

I decided to do the “death by treadmill” run that I did last week again today. Honest to God, that is one HELL of a workout!! I ran for an extra 5 minutes and walked 5 to help cool down a bit. I remembered my HRM today so here are my stats:

Time: 35:00
Avg HR: 163
Max HR: 183
Calories Burned: 380
Distance: 3.25 miles (5.24 kmph)

Seeing as the run is a ½ hour, I had time to do some ab work and stretching before my lunch was over. It was also a nice way to cool down some naturally before getting cleaned up.

I made a great wrap that I was looking forward to ALL morning! This baby is made with a Flatout wrap, Sabra hummus, mortadella, Swiss cheese and tons of greens. On the side I had red & orange bell pepper strips with extra Sabra hummus.

An incredible lunch, if I do say so myself and it fell perfectly into my brightly coloured food theme for the day!!

The afternoon plodded on by very slowly. At one point, I thought it was 3pm and it was only 2pm. Blah! I think it went slowly because I had a dinner date with the girls tonight and a hair appointment and was excited to "get on" with my day. I had some time at home before going out so after I changed outfits I ate a bowl of strawberries and blueberries to tie me over until dinner...

One of my girls is expecting in June and apparnetly her baby really digs Boston Pizza so that where we went. Who are we to deny a pregnant woman her "kraving"? I didn't want to eat the same salad as Friday so I ordered the Parmesan Lime Shrimp which came with a side salad.

This meal was very disappointing! The salad was basically iceburg lettuce with a few tomatoes and the shrimp had no flavour. Blah! I guess it did fall into my bright food theme! Moving on, once we were done, I scooped DD up and we went for our hair appointments. This was a nice relaxing way to end my day! Now, I am going to grab a snack and tuck in to watch the rest of the Biggest Loser!

Bye for now!!

  12. You found the Flatouts! Yay! Wrap looks awesome.

And that sucks that your Boston Pizza dinner wasn't great, I find them really hit or miss. Definitely not on my choice list of dining options.
