Oh, yeah! This was as scrumptious as it looks! I even had a few minutes to relax after I ate because I didn’t have to get the kids out the door! What a great way to start the last day of the (work) week.
I only worked a half day today and I spent my time compiling more paperwork for taxes. The morning actually went by pretty fast. It makes a big difference to know you only have to sit in your chair for ½ the time!
For some reason or another my breakfast did not hold me over at all today. I ate at 8am and by 11am I was famished! I ate both the snacks I brought….3 medjool dates and an energy bar.
I was glad I hadn’t packed anything else or I probably would’ve downed it too!
When I got home, my hubby and I folded some laundry and I pondered what to eat for lunch. I finally decided on a WW bagel with a 1/4 cup of eggbeaters, jalapeno Havarti cheese and Sabra hummus. This was definitely the right decision! The cheese melted all gooey and it was the perfect blend of flavours. I ate another energy bar after this. :~) After lunch we hit up Walmart to purchase a few b-day presents that the kids will need for the weekend and some much needed deodorant as mine decided to crumble all over the bathroom counter this morning when I took the lid off. Grrr!. I managed to get out of there with only what I had intended to buy! Next on the agenda was grocery shopping. I re-stocked on flour, baking powder, brown sugar and cinnamon. It was very weird how I ran out of so many baking ingredients at once! I don't recall that ever happening before. Once I was home and done putting the food away, I sat back to watch some Food Network. I was suddenly hit with a very strong salt craving. I hardly EVER crave salty things, so this was definitely out of the ordinary. There's no photo evidence, but I will admit to eating 2 handfuls of Pringles. EEEK!
The kids were feeling some pizza for dinner so we decided a trip to our local Boston Pizza was in order. We started with an order of calamari...
I haven't had this dish in years and found this batch to be very greasy and not very good. I ate maybe 4 pieces before I called it quits. :( For my main, I had the very same salad I ate the last time I went with my co-workers. I can't remember exactly what they call it but it 's a combo of romaine, grilled chicken breast, mandarin oranges and tons of chopped up veggies. I had the dressing on the side and used about 1/2 of the smallest container. I didn't use the big one at all. And yes, I ate that whole piece of buttery garlic bread!!!
We dropped DD off at her friends house for a sleep over birthday party before coming home for the night. It's strange to have a child out of the nest, but at the same time it's nice to not have to listen to the two of them bicker all evening. I do miss my Friday night mall partner, though!! We'll be picking her up at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon and then heading straight to another party which will include adults as well as the kids. Ah, some socializing!
Well, not much else went on with me today. It's 7pm right now, but it feels like it should be 10pm. Funny how that happens sometimes! I'm going to do some blog reading and then some magazine reading. There might be a movie in my near future, as well. Here's to hoping everybody has a fantabulous Friday night!!
Bye for now!!
Mmm, dates.
ReplyDeleteEnoy your restful Friday evening!!
I love calamari! Mmmm, squidly bits! I always torture my sister with the tentacles (yes, I'm an adult, but it's still fun). And garlic toast sounds good right about now.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that today's Friday was much better than yesterday's Friday ;)
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I HATE it when deodorant does that!
Yummmm to that garlic bread!
amazing dates and great sandwich!!!
ReplyDeleteoh.... almost forgot to mention that your breakfast looks delicious too!!
It is such a strange feeling when my oldest goes to a sleepover. I get so nervous when I wake up in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI think that I am going to also try your oatmeal this week.
Love the creamer flavors you always add to your oats!
ReplyDeleteYour oatmeal looks very unique! You're pretty creative
ReplyDeleteI love making egg sandwiches like that with s&p, sabra hummus, and some sliced tomatoes
Krista, you eat pretty well, I am so impress!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
