So, as the title of this post would indicate, back to school = fund raising. And the school picks chocolate every year. Don’t they know how weak I am??? Here’s a glimpse of the goods they’re to sell this year;
In order to save my waist line, yet be supportive, I bought 2 boxes of the individually wrapped chocolates and brought them to work for the office candy bowl. I also brought some of the bars which will likely sell in the next week. My hubby will bring some to work as well. Gotta do our part! :D
I somehow got a late start on breakfast this morning and ended up packing up the last half to finish at work! I’m still trying to figure out how the time got away on me!
1 cup water
1/3 cup Windy Hill Farms Cremo cereal
cinnamon
dried currants
1 tbsp cashew butter
This kept me full right through to lunch! Must’ve been the cashew butter that helped it along. I’ve packed the same Clif Bar 2 days in a row and haven’t gotten to it yet. Poor thing must be wondering what it did wrong! :)
I opted out of the gym today. I needed to run a few errands, but really, I just didn’t have the energy. I have a sneaky suspicion that this “cold” might have mutated into a sinus infection. Let’s just say that my head is full of nasty stuff. Ugh… It was nice to park it on the couch for a bit, though. My cats were confused that I was home mid day and therefore ran around like a bunch of idiots. Kinda funny really until I saw the clumps of fur they left in their wake. *sigh*
Lunch today was a salad beast….
I used this can of curried chickpeas not only as a topper, but as the dressing too.
Here’s what’s all in the bowl;
-a head of red leaf lettuce (go big or go home, right?)
-tomatoes
-¾ can of the chickpeas with maybe a tbsp of the dressing
Worked well for me! Read on to see how I used the rest of the chickpeas in dinner! I also ate about a cup of sweet red grapes;
The afternoon dragged a bit compared to the morning. Probably had something to do with the fact that I missed the gym. No gym = no energy boost.
I made baked salmon for dinner tonight with some peas and TJ’s Harvest Grain Blend. That’s where the leftover chickpea salad comes in. There was a 1/4 cup of dressing left which I used as part of the liquid and I stirred the remaining chick peas in at the last minute. Turned out GREAT if I do say so myself! Here’s my plate;
As soon as dinner was over DD and I took KC out for a walk. Tonight is the only night this week that we were able to go. Sad, but I knew that this would happen once sports started up again. Tomorrow is pizza lunch a school so I don’t have that to worry about. I’m going to make a hot chocolate and settle in with the new Chatelaine mag that came in the mail today.
A sure sign of fall around my house? I put my fake fall veggies out in the bowl on the kitchen table today;
Bye for now!!
mmmm those chickpeas sound fabulous. I love that you can use them as a topper and a dressing! Isn't TJ’s Harvest Grain Blend the best? I love it in stew.
ReplyDeleteUgh, school fundraisers! I can't resist buying something!
ReplyDeleteI heart chickpeas! Love them on a salad, too :)
I share your bar pity - if I pack a bar and it just lives in my purse I kind of feel bad for it! One fundraiser that we would do were Little Caesar's pizza kits. Dangerous for both my wallet and my waist line! Bread sticks, pizzas, and cookie dough galore!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you brought out the fall decor!
I've been eyeing the fall veggies at the grocery store!! I want to get some but I gotta wait for the prices to come down. You're such a supportive Momma. Those schools know what we woman like :)
ReplyDeleteyay for fake fall veggies! Very festive :)
ReplyDeleteOh, all the stuff (including chocolate) I have bought from fundraisers over the years...
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to go on a walk with DD...:)
Love your dinner combo, all of my favorite food! You just remind me that i had Tj's grain harvest in my pantry too! hahaha......
ReplyDeleteGreat "decor" on the kitchen table, but they wouldn't last long in my kitchen. :)
I used to love doing fund raising because I knew my mom would always buy some of the goodies for our house!! :-) But after awhile, it got old going from door to door haha.
ReplyDeleteThose curry chickpeas sound awesome!! Where'd ya find em'?
Those chickpeas look so yummy! I love your festive fall veggies, how fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the autumn veggies. Until I read the post, I thought they were real!!
ReplyDeleteUgh, fundraising. I will say, that is the one thing I don't miss about skating, is all the fundraising that went along with it. It's so nice to not have to harass everyone I know to buy things from me.
ReplyDeleteCurried chickpeas in a can? I have never seen that. Interesting. I bet it was great in that grain blend. Which I still really want to try...why do I never find the time to make my way to the states to a TJ's?
