The Krista’s Kraving’s household was recently lucky enough to receive 3 flavours of Smucker’s syrups to try.
**While these were send to me for free by the company, I want to stress that Smucker’s products are not strangers to my fridge and I have bought all these products myself many times before. In fact, I can’t think of a time that the chocolate syrup hasn’t been in my fridge!**
Now, I’m not going to try to pass these off as healthy or even good for you, but if you like ribbons of goodness on your treats, these syrups are for you! And I think most people must enjoy a treat like this once in awhile because Smucker’s has been doing business since 1897! That’s more than 110 yrs of syrup making!
My kids have been having a hay day with the chocolate and butterscotch flavours on their ice cream in the past week!
- vanilla ice cream, cookie crumbles and butterscotch sauce
- hubby’s vanilla, berries and chocolate sauce
- vanilla, chocolate and SF caramel sauce
We’ve also drizzled all 3 over our apple pie:
I have no photo, but it’s quite common for the kids to make chocolate milk with the chocolate sauce, too.
Personally, I like to swirl some of the SF caramel into my coffee for a Starbucks feel!
Three flavours I have yet to try are the chocolate fudge, strawberry and “magic” chocolate shell.
I told the fam that once these bottles are done we can try the others. I think the strawberry would be awesome.
I really like the syrups that come in the “upside down” squeeze bottles because they’re easier for the kids to handle, you have more control over how much you want to add, and they’re mess free AND recyclable.
Here are some fun facts that were gathered in a survey that Smucker’s did regarding how Canadians like their ice cream:
-89% like to top their ice cream off with syrup
-38% prefer hot fudge while chocolate and caramel with tied with it being 29% of people’s favourite.
-The most popular, unusual toppings are peanut butter, gummi bears and maple syrup (those sound perfectly normal to a bloggie like me!!)
-Believe it or not, but there are some Canadians who choose to top their ice cream with chips, French fries, bacon and pickles. I think that’s just gross! LOL
-And Canada’s IDEAL sundae is made up of one scoop of vanilla, one scoop of chocolate topped off with hot fudge syrup, whipping cream and sliced banana served in a waffle bowl, NO cherry on top.
So tell me, what is your ideal sundae??? I’d love to hear how you like to dress up your ice cream bowl! Me? I like vanilla ice cream with any type of fruit sauce/puree, walnuts and chocolate sauce!
Hope you enjoyed this review!
Bye for now!!
Mmm, mmm, mmm!! My ideal sundae = lots of butterscotch sauce on top :)
ReplyDeleteah! So fun. Josh LOVES magic shell. We have it in our cabinet at all times. I'd more of a caramel fan. Ideal sunday= frozen yogurt, caramel and fruit. YUM!
ReplyDeleteI can see why the PB, gummy bear, and maple surups would be popular- ESPECIALLY the maple syrup!! :D
ReplyDeleteKrista! AH! Now I need ice cream again! I've had the chocolate and butterscotch syrups before, Ryan is crazy for butterscotch. They really are good.
ReplyDeleteI like my sundaes pretty straight up - vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, nuts.
I used to do Vanilla Bean ice cream with chocolate syrup drizzled on top. Sounds basic, right? Well when it would start to melt I'd stir it all together and it would taste like a chocolate shake :)
ReplyDeletePS. I just saw your comment about going to Somerset ;) I'll send you an email soon!
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm with the 39% and love my hot fudge. I would say one scoop cookie dough, one scoop cookies 'n cream with hot fudge, peanut butter bites and graham cracker crust :)
ReplyDeleteYum! I am so jealous! I am addicted to ice cream and frozen yogurt with fab toppings LOL.
