Party Day

Seems like DS’s b-day has run 4 days long! Gotta love being a kid, eh?! Today was the last day of DS-fest with his birthday party with 7 of his friends. He had decided last month that he wanted his party to be at the local glow in the dark mini golf place. I was a little nervous because we’ve been there as guests for parties before and they always seemed like a gong show to me. But the bash went off without a hitch and the kids had a blast. But first I fuelled with a wonderful bowl of oats. IMG_0009

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup flax seed porridge
  • cinnamon
  • Enjoy Life Foods trail mix
  • splash of vanilla toffee coffee “creamer” IMG_0008

Nom, nom, nom! And before I forget, I enjoyed a mug of Bellagio hot chocolate last night while watching “the Reader”. IMG_0007

Anybody seen this movie? What did you think of it? My hubby went to watch a hockey game so I took the opportunity to watch it. It wasn’t terrible or anything like that….I just have a gut feeling that the book is MUCH better. Actually, I think I’m going to see if I can borrow it from the library.

Party time was from 12-2. The kids golfed and played some arcade games before diving into 3 boxes of pizza. I planned ahead with my lunch a packed a WW bagel stuffed with a LC cheese wedge, ham, lettuce and mango wasabi sauce: IMG_0010

I packed it up in this way cute Valentine’s Ziploc baggie: IMG_0012

I couldn’t resist these bags when I saw them at the dollar store. I’m such a dweeb! :) HA! I also snacked a some dried apricots and nuts as we were walking out the door. IMG_0013

Here are some shots of the golf course. It’s actually a pretty neat place and my new camera did a good job of taking pictures with the lighting… IMG_0022 IMG_0023 IMG_0025

Here’s DS at the air hockey table and doing the birthday cake thang;

And a close up of the cake. I’m sure you’ll all be shocked at the theme! :D IMG_0040

We were home and settled in by 3pm for some serious down time. I didn’t have to worry about cooking dinner because we had lots of leftovers to use up. I spent my time reading some magazine’s, reading some blogs, watching a few cooking shows and enjoying a pineapple flax muffin with a little chocolate honey spread on. IMG_0046

When we finally got around to supper I made the exact same as last night. Half a kabocha with some tomato sauce and Allegro cheese. IMG_0047

Who even needs lasagna? To me this tasted like the real deal! We went to my parents for a visit tonight where I munched on 2 chocolate chip cookies and sipped a tea. We were discussing how it’s just not fair that the weekend is only 2 days. We’re of the same opinion that it should be at least 3 days long. Yes? LOL! I wish.

This week is pretty booked up again. Here’s sneak peek.

  • Monday: Dance and hockey practice
  • Tuesday: Pilate’s
  • Wednesday: swimming
  • Thursday: skating lessons (DD) and a hockey game (DS)
  • Friday: free so far

How’s your week shaping up?

Bye for now!!

  1. Aww it looks like your little one had a fun time!

I love that Bellagio chocolate... YUM! :)

  2. Agreed about the weekend! I'd be even willing to work 10 hour days for 4 days a week in order to get a 3 day weekend!

  3. DS has one of my favorite names!!!

Kabocha lasagna!??!! What a fabulous idea, Krista!

  4. I want to be a kid and have four days of B-celebration!!! :D
kabocha lasagna sounds and looks amazing!!! need to try that! :)

  5. I miss being younger and having big birthday bashes--my favorite was a big Hawaiin party I had in 7th grade! DS's sounds like it was a ball!

  6. Isn't squash the best dinner? Love it! I have my other half from Saturday to eat tonight and I cannot wait! The party looks like a blast- I love mini golf. Glad you got some nice down time in- seems like you have another busy week ahead! Happy Monday :)

  7. Your oats always look soooo good to me!!!

  8. Ah, what a fun time! to be so young again!!!

  9. a happy belated birthday to the little guy :) i know that he likes to read your comments!
p.s. i saw a couple tins of that bellagio hot chocolate at winners recently, with crazy mark downs!

  10. I am a huge fan of orange + chocolate.
Usually I make my own hot chocolate. I try to avoid sugar, and I don't tolerate dairy so well, so I use cacao, almond milk, stevia, and cinnamon. The cacao is so rich and delicious.
