Breakfast was much healthier today than yesterday! I enjoyed another 1 cup serving of the Apple Pie Crock Pot Oats with a splash of French Vanilla International Delight coffee creamer.
I was sad to see the end of this today! Just a little note…before I put the oats in the microwave, I add about a ¼ cup of water to help rehydrate them. Works like a charm!
I made myself another green monster last night to enjoy while watching CSI. I didn’t take a photo of this one because it looked the exact same as the last 2! Another thing I’ve noticed since I started drinking one of these every night is that I’m sleeping better. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or if the smoothies are easier to digest than the dry cereal I had been snacking on. Sunday will be day 7 of my little mini test so on Monday I will post a full re-cap of my thoughts/changes/opinions of how the drink has affected me.
I snacked on some dried figs throughout the morning…
I’m really digging these little gems! They don’t compare to a medjool date in taste, but they are sweet and chewy. Most importantly, they’re MUCH cheaper than medjool dates. That alone makes them the perfect substitution in my eyes!
On to my early b-day gift because it relates to the gym which is coming up next! My hubby bought me an Ipod!! Now, I know this isn’t a big deal to most of you, but I’ve been using a crappy (and free) MP3 player which has no options. And, being a Mom, I tend to spend money on my kids before me which is why I’ve never gotten around to buying one myself. So this is a most awesome gift! And it’s my favourite colour….PURPLE!
It was all loaded up with my tunes and everything! Now I just have to learn how to use it. Seems pretty simple to navigate. I rocked out to ABBA during my workout today. I’m not quite that old, but I do love me some ABBA!
Speaking of said workout, I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and 20 on the elliptical. I tweaked my knee while running on Wednesday and thought about running yesterday at home but decided to let it rest. It was a wee bit bothersome today which is why I split time between the 2 machines. I still got a good sweat going, though!!

Lunch was my delicious leftover pasta from Wednesday night. I bulked it up with a scoop of chickpeas…
Yummy in my tummy!! Lunch dessert was a nice juicy orange!
OKAY!!! Before I get on to dinner, I'll cut the chase and announce the WINNER of the contest!! After going through the comments and deleting the doubles, I had 128 to work with. I plugged the numbers into this site and got #27. So, who is lucky number 27 you ask? BEADIE from What I Ate Yesterday!!
Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday said...
To make the sandwich, I sauteed one thinly sliced onion until very soft, then I added mushroom's to the pan. I let it cook down for a good 15 mins. Here's what they look like done.
While the veg were doing there thang, I toasted an Arnold Thin and spread it with a thin layer of the goat cheese. This is where the sandwich fell short because the one I ate yesterday had a nice thick layer of cheese, but this stuff was just too spicy for that. I piled the topped up high on one side and heaped mixed greens on the other side...
A nice fresh salad finished the meal.
This was pretty darn good! And I'm FULL! But I did manage some room for a mint chip bar...
We're off to see a hockey game in about 5 minutes. DD won tickets at school so this one is a freebie! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I'm being summoned....okay....yelled at that it's time to go! I'll catch you all tomorrow!! Congrats again, Beadie!!
Bye for now!!
Lovely oats, figs, dinner... yum!!
ReplyDeleteFaaabulous gift from your husband!! He's a keeper ;-)
Hooray!! So glad that dear Beadie won!!
Have fun at the game tonight!!
Wow it IS an awesome gift! Purple is my school color!! GOOO NORTHWESTERN and it's really pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteI REALLY need to try those oats! it looks SO declicious!!! Your dinner is also ridiculous...danggg i swear your concoctions are getting more and more gourmet!
I love that you went to recreate that sammy the day after you had it. Too bad the goat cheese wasn't quite right. Could you maybe scrape off the crust to make it lest spicy?
ReplyDeleteAnd bummer, I didn't win. I so wanted to try that coconut spread :)
I love ABBA too, mainly from growing up with my Dad playing it. I'll have to get a few of their songs for my MP3 player.
ReplyDeleteNICE GIFT!! The hubs did a good job :) Hey - have no shame in your music selection! I love me some Abba as well!!
ReplyDeleteThat sandwich is incredible! Another good combo with mushrooms is sharp cheddar!
Congrats to the winner!!
I am addicted to dry figs. They remind me of my childhood Fig Newtons. I'm using it for a pizza tonight. Pumpkin, figs, apples and spinach sauteed in cinnamon, and goat cheese. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI tried to get into dried figs but I just couldn't do it! Maybe I bought a crappy batch or something haha
ReplyDeleteLOVING the Ipod. The new ones are gorgeous. That purple is lovely. I'm still rockin the older Nano version. I think it's a Nano anyway... Clearly I don't know my Ipod technology that well
Yay for your Ipod! It's really beautiful! I love figs too, they're so tasty and CHEWY - whereas Medjools are more melty - not that I mind that! Have fun tonight!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you have been enjoying your apple pie oats all week- they sound awesome! And of course, I love the idea of anything that saves time in the morning! What a great birthday present- I love the color! Have fun at the game :)

Happy Early Birthday! What a great gift and it is an awesome color.
ReplyDeleteFigs are good, but if you want some date awesomeness without the medjool price, just buy some regular honey dates (not the dried up baking dates). I get the ones labelled Parnoosh in square plastic containers from No Frills or Loblaws, and they are really good, $2 for 350g, or $5.50 for 1kg, I think?
ReplyDeleteLove the gift, it is so pretty! And awesome eats! Love the way you bulked up the pasta! =D
ReplyDeletecongrats to Beadie!! And glad that you had an early surprise for your B-day!
ReplyDeleteyour dinner sandwich looks great!
I am late commenting, I have had a busy couple of days. But, hip hip hooooray!! I am so happy to be the winner. Those hazelnut flakes ARE MINE!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing such an awesome contest!!
