Hello blog buddy's!! Hope everyone has had an enjoyable Saturday! We were all pretty lazy at the Krista's Kravings household today! It was relaxing to be low key after a busy, but VERY enjoyable, week! After lounging in bed for a bit I got up and sorted some laundry. Got to get that started ASAP or you'd be surprised at how fast I can "forget" about it! Then I set about getting some breakfast going.
-1 cup water
-1/2 cup Quaker oats
-1/2 cup silken tofu
-cinnamon
-banana
-blueberries
-raisins & chopped pecans
I cooked up the first 5 items, whirled it all up with my immersion blender, then stirred in the berries and sprinkled on the toppings! It was all served up in my new $2.50 Ikea bowl on top of my $.025 Ikea place mat (they were 4/$.099)!
I was pretty stuffed after all that food and pretty much sat in front of the computer for the next hour! Then I got my rear moving and cleaned the kitchen while my hubby vacuumed. The weather wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't freezing or raining so I bundled up and walked down to the library, then Blockbuster to return some books/movies. On the way back I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some baking ingredients. When I set out walking I must have blocked out the fact that I needed flour and sugar because boy did they ever make my sack heavy going back home.....which is at the top of a big hill....*sigh* I lived.
Speaking of baking, I bet you're wondering exactly who got us baking??? Drum roll, please....
The winner's are....Marianne's Mars Bar Squares, Erica's Pineapple Cupcakes and Sarah's Black & White Chipper's!!! Thanks for all the great recipes and congratulations to the winner's! I've emailed the ladies and they will be getting their jar of Creamy Coconut Spread later on in the week! Can't wait to see/hear what they create with it or if they eat it straight up like I do! *WINK WINK*
Now that my fridge is re-stocked I had what I needed to make my favourite blend of green monster....frozen strawberries and mango, flax seed, spinach and 1/2 cup soy milk.
I let it go on the magic bullet for a good few minutes and the result was a thick, creamy shake. I really enjoyed the addition of the soy milk, too. And the bonus was that it was on sale 2 for $3.00! Like the little candle? $2.99 at Ikea. DS picked this one out because he liked the way it smelled! Wonder if he'll always be fond of floral scents? Hmmm...
I ate a smallish lunch around 1:30. A toasted English muffin with a little goat cheese and smoked salmon and a bowl of fresh strawberries and pineapple.
Unpictured are 2 dates with homemade almond butter and a coffee. The rest of the afternoon was pretty much spent bumming around. I can't believe I'm back to work Monday. Looking back, my week off flew by! I forgot to mention in my post last night that when we got back yesterday afternoon there was a package at my door! LOVE that! My MIL dropped me off some goodies for my b-day....and we just missed her! Too bad, she probably woulda liked to come to Ikea with us!
Here we have 2 boxes of cappuccino mix (mocha and vanilla) and 2 boxes of Stash tea (peppermint & pomegranate raspberry). Stash is my favourite brand of tea! I had a mug of the fruity one this aft and it twas good!!
I prepared a meatloaf for the fam tonight, but made myself a stir fry as I've never been very fond of meatloaf. My stir fry was a mix of veggies, tofu and shrimp doused with Bragg's Liquid amino's.
And because I had a hankering for some chocolate, I pulled out a Cravings macaroon for my sweet end.
Before any of the dinner dishes were cleaned up, I made Marianne's Mars Bar Squares. I can just tell that these are going to be a hit!! No picture's yet....they're hanging out in the fridge and will be ready for a full photo shoot tomorrow! I think my parents are coming over for a visit in a bit. Once they leave I'll likely bake Erica's Pineapple Cupcakes and the cookies will be on the to do list for tomorrow.
I'll leave you all with a picture of Pepper. What is it exactly with cats and clean laundry???
Have a great night, all!
Bye for now!!
BEYOND tantalizing choices for the baked goods!!
ReplyDeleteLove Pepper!! :-D
Yeah Mars Bar Squares! They are pretty damn tasty, and easy to make :D You better believe I'll be eating some coconut spread straight from the jar. I'm hard core like that.
ReplyDeleteI so need to go to Ikea. Maybe I'll have time this weekend? Although, my mother will kill me if I buy anything. She says I can't buy anything anymore, because they already aren't sure where all my stuff is going when I move back. HA!
YUM... there really is something about baking, huh?
ReplyDeletePepper is the cutest!

I'm not sure what it is with cats and clean laundry. My kitties love to roll around in it. We usually fold the laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer and some times we have to play tug of war with the cats for it!
