How is everybody today? I have a lot to say in today's post so you might want to grab a tea before you settle in!! It's all great stuff, though so stick around to the end!!!
First off, here is what a day at the museum does to an energetic, just turned 7 yr old!
Sleeping like a baby....better than a baby! Octavius is trying to be invisible (which is impossible) because he knows darn well that he's not to be on the bed!!
As delish as my brownie was last night, it did not settle well. I could still feel it like a rock in my gut at 10pm! I decided that a cup of this was in order!
I always have some handy for days were my food just won't settle! It's pretty much peppermint tea kicked up a notch.
I was uber excited to get a move on breakfast this morning because this came in the mail while I was out yesterday...
PB2!!!! How excited was I to find this available in Canada? I've been wanting to try it since I've seen it on so many blogs! For all my fellow Canadians out there that want to try PB2, go to The Low Carb Grocery Store site. They ship all over Canada and also have the La Tortilla Factory wraps, Shirataki Noodles, DaVinci's syrups and much more! I use to order from them alot, but I've been cutting back on some "unnecessary" items the last few months! I whipped up 2 tbsp of PB2 with 1 tbsp of water as per the instructions and had a taste.
YAY! It's peanut butter! I used some of it on DS's toast and he didn't even notice a thing! The other half went in my breakfast....
-1 cup water
-1/3 cup Red River hot cereal
-cinnamon
-PB2
-carob chips, chopped pecans
I'm one of those bloggers who mixes everything up in my bowl after I take a few pretty photos and let me tell you that once this was all stirred together, it was heaven!!! So glad I was brave enough to try powdered PB!
I also ordered a whack of Shirataki noodles for my MIL and myself.
These are definitely a love'em or hate'em item. I happen to love them! They're so versatile and easy to prepare. You'll see them in my lunch in a few minutes...
Here are shots of the black flats and necklace that I purchased yesterday. I had to wait for natural light to get a good picture to share!
I really liked the necklace because it can be dressed up or down and worn with many colours. The shoes are nice and comfy for work. Kinda like dressy slippers!! :)
We went over to Costco before lunch and I came home with much needed PB, toilet paper, frozen strawberries, some running capri's and the Sabra hummus fairy was there again so I grabbed some Greek and caramelized onion hummus! Usually they just have a 2 pack of jalapeno, but when they're "advertising" it, they have about 7 different flavours. I really liked the Greek the last time and I tried a sample (or 4) of the others and decided to go with the onion this time. I love that this stuff can be frozen.
As I mentioned, Shirataki noodles made an appearance in my lunch! I sauteed some peas, spinach and tomato until hot, then added the well rinsed, well drained noodles to the mix. When everything was nice and hot, I stirred in about 2 tbsp of Sabra jalapeƱo hummus. On the side was the bum end of Dempster's Pro Cardio WW bread with a little more hummus.
I picked up the bread today after receiving my "for free" coupons that I won over at Oh She Glows last week!
Their arrival was perfect as we used up the last piece of bread this morning! I always buy Dempsters 100% WW bread for the fam....I don't eat much bread....so it was great to "bump it up a notch" while still buying from a trusted brand!
Alas, my hubby had to leave at 2pm for work. BLAH. The kids and I went up the mall to use the kiosk to get updated plate stickers for the car. Before heading home, I detoured downtown to pop into Market Fresh to check out their reduced produce. The reduced stuff there is still better quality than my regular store and seeing as tomorrow is shopping day, I wanted to get as much as I could today. Does that make sense??!! Anyways, here's what I bought...
Store made meatballs, the end pieces of deli chicken breast and mortadella, 2 packs of cleaned, chopped celery, bananas, apples, a head of iceberg lettuce and some broccoli. All this came to just under $11.00. SCORE!
I rented the kids a few movies and home we went! I got them settled then started making a recipe for Sweet Potato Oatmeal Bread that I found over at Megan's Munchie's yesterday. I followed the recipe to a T except that the sweet potato I had only equaled 1/2 a cup so I bumped it up with 1/2 a cup of unsweetened applesauce. Worked like a charm!
The loaf came out nice and moist. DD and I agreed that it was very flavourful and had a great texture to it. Thanks for a great recipe, Megan!!!
Dinner was a take on a recipe that I found at Hungry Girl.com for crab cakes. I followed this recipe as well except that I had no crab so I substituted tuna. This recipe was delish as well, but the cakes didn't hold together very well. I think I need to add more bread crumbs next time! Regardless the kids and I enjoyed it. I served mine with a bowl of mango and some mango chutney for dipping.
My sweet end, of course, was a piece of Sweet Potato Oatmeal Bread.
I rented a few movies for myself seeing as the man is on afternoons! I got Fool's Gold cuz I love Kate Hudson, The Haunting of Molly Hartley and Quarantine. Anybody seen these and have any thoughts???
I'm sure I will be making a green monster later on to enjoy while watching one of these bad boys. Well, it's time for me to sign off for the evening! Hope you all have a great night!
Bye for now!!

ReplyDeleteOctavius looks so much like Ebony!
ReplyDeletePB2 in Canada eh? Too bad it has to be ordered online - I'm really more of a shop at the store kinda gal for food products. Looking forward to what you do with your shiritaki noodles. I have a package in my fridge (still) that I have yet to figure out what to make with it. I've never tried them before.
We can't get cool flavours of Sabra at Costco here. They only sell a big container of Roast Red Pepper. It's not my favourite, and I can't eat the whole tub myself anyways, so it's not worth it for me.
First things first- I LOVE those flats. TOO cute! I need shoes- ASAP! How awesome is PB2? I am an addict already! That bread sounds amazing- although I think I'm a fan of sweet potato anything. Have a great Friday
