Today has been the strangest day weather wise! It actually started raining yesterday afternoon and continued through the night and into late this morning. With that came pea soup fog and it was WARM! Then around 11am the fog broke and the sun came out for a bit. Next thing we knew, it was snowing! Geez! Make up you mind already, Mother Nature!
-1 cup water
-1/2 cup PC 5 grain cereal
-cinnamon
-blueberries
-pineapple jam
-kefir
I wasn’t sure how the kefir would go down in the hot oats, but I liked what it did to the feel of them. The taste got lost, but the oats became so thick and creamy; almost pudding like. I have a gut feeling you’ll be seeing kefir in my bowl more often in the next few days!
Here are my snacks for the day:
This was my first shot at a Gnu Bar and it was pretty good. Not my favourite, but I’d buy it again if I came across it. When I first opened the pack I realized that the bar smelled very sweet and I was a bit worried, but turns out it wasn’t too bad! It had a nice soft cookie consistency and you can’t go wrong (or I can’t) with 12g of fibre. I also appreciated the natural ingredient list. BTW…aren’t those some SAD looking grapes and blueberries? LOL…
I ended up on the treadmill at the gym today and hammered out a decent enough run. My cardio felt good, but my legs, or more specifically, my knees and ankles weren’t overly impressed. This worries me because I don’t want another injury to come about. Something to keep an eye on for sure.

Lunch was serving of my 10 minute chicken & rice soup.
With the weather outside this ended up being the perfect lunch!
My dinner tonight was courtesy of work. There was a big lunch meeting and all the leftovers were put out for the rest of us. I took the opportunity to plate up some gorgeous salad. It had spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, mushrooms, hard boiled egg and cashews in it.
This is the only photo I got before I dropped my camera and busted it! :( BLAH! Looks like I’ll be camera shopping this weekend. Anyways, I sprinkled some white balsamic vinegar on before eating. My sweet end was 2 of my hubby’s PB & chocolate chip cookies. Also unphotographed.
Before I go, what camera do YOU use? I’ve been using a Kodak Easy Share but would like something a wee bit better. Please share!
Bye for now!!
ah! Bummer about the camera (but a nice excuse to get a new one ;)). My camera is olddd. That dinner salad looks fab. I love goat cheese in salads. And the egg and nuts add some nice protein. Hope the weather makes up its mind for you ;)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try kefir but you've intrigued me! :)
ReplyDeletepooo that stinks about the camera but i'm pumped for you that you get to get a new one! i have an olympus fe-280 and i like it a lot!

ReplyDeleteI just got a new camera for christmas; it's a fuji finepix S1500. It's in between your normal digital and an SLR...I really like it so far!
Sorry about your camera. I still haven't gotten an new camera, so no recommendations from me...
ReplyDeleteoh sorry to know that you broke your camera... that's really a tragedy for a blogger!! I use a EOS canon 500D (or Rebel in US) and love it! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the camera - that stinks :(
ReplyDeleteThat Gnu is actually my favorite flavor (well, along with the banana one). Just a warning, the peanut butter one, in my opinion, isn't that great! Hope you have a good Tuesday!!
Sorry about your camera that really stinks! The soup looks really good especially for the cold day we are having here in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE adding kefir to oatmeal!!! I agree the [amazing] flavor sort of gets lost but it is oh so creamy.
ReplyDeleteMy camera is over 3 years old. It's a Canon SD 600. I love it. It's been acting strange lately though....yikes!
Ugh that stinks about your camera : p I have done that before as well!!!! I have a sony cybershot, I heard Nikons are great!!
ReplyDeleteI lost my camera battery charger , so Im peeved about that!
I am a new reader, love the blog!
That salad looks incredible with the sweet/savory combo! Sorry about your camera...I use a Canon Powershot, which is pretty user friendly.
ReplyDeleteThat soup looks fabulous! I think I need to make myself a nice pot of soup! It's SOOO cold here today.. brr! I'm sure you feel my pain! lol! As for the camera, not sure how much better you want, but I have a pro level Nikon D90.. love it to bits!! But it is $$$. Either way, i'd go with a Nikon... ;) They're the cream of the crop in my opinion! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI am currently on a huge soup kick--any way to possibly warm me up in these -10 temps is good in my book! I should try this soup--if I do, I will definitely let you know how it is, but I am sure it's great!
