Slow As Molasses

Oh, my friends….work was incredibly SLOW today! I spent the majority of the day wishing I had booked the time off because I have a crap load of stuff…housework wise…to get done this weekend. Isn’t that how it goes??? AHHHHH!!!! Breakfast was divine, though. IMG_0392
-1 cup water
-1/4 cup PC steel cut oats
-cinnamon
-kefir
-thawed & warmed peaches & blueberries IMG_0391
I made this in the microwave this morning and wound up with a boil over. LOL! Typical Friday luck. I caught it before it turned disastrous, though, and enjoyed every bite.

One thing I love about steel cut oats is how much staying power they have. So when my stomach started “grumbling” at 10:30, I knew it was due to boredom, not hunger. I distracted myself on the internet a bit, took a walk around the building and sorted through some paperwork at my desk until it was 11:30, which is usually when I eat my snack. IMG_0393
I’m so glad I didn’t cave to the “fake” hunger cues. They can be such a trap for me.

I sacrificed some stretching time at the gym today to squeeze another 5 minutes of cardio in. LOL! That actually sounds pretty pathetic now that I put it to paper, but it’s true! Next week I’ll be starting a 4 week plan that was in the March issue of Prevention magazine. The program includes weight and strength training which is something I *really* need to get back on track with. It’s a 5 day schedule which I’ve adjusted to Mon-Fri because those are the days I know I can commit to doing it. I’m excited to start it! But for now, here today’s stats:

Time: 50 minutes
Avg Hr: 146
Max Hr: 158
Calories Torched: 414
Distance: 5.3 miles

As I was making the kids cheese and mortadella sandwiches last night I realized that it’s been a very long time since I’ve had any mortadella myself. And it’s my absolute favourite lunch meat!!! I decided right then and there to have some in my lunch, too! IMG_0395
WW bagel, LC cheese wedge, romaine lettuce and mortadella. Delightful. Anybody in need of a hug? IMG_0396
Apparently me…and there were actually 2 more go down the hatch! :D

By the time afternoon break rolled around I was in dire need of a pick me up. Enter a Maxwell House Maxiccino. IMG_0394
You’re really only suppose to add ¾ of a cup of water and my mug is pushing 2 cups so it’s a bit weak, but I prefer it that way. They’re too sweet otherwise. I also ate the last of my pineapple before leaving for the day; IMG_0397

The fam had Mary Brown’s for supper so I put some leftovers to good use. I combined the last of my quinoa, some pork tenderloin and marinara sauce and heated it in the microwave. Then I sprinkled some Mrs. Dash seasoning on top. IMG_0398

Dessert? Another piece of banana chocolate cake! *blush* It’s just SO good! IMG_0399

We just finished watching “Aliens in the Attic”. What a cute movie! We had a few good laughs, that’s for sure! Pepper watched, too…. IMG_0400

That cat is a sucker for a blanket. LOL! I’m just watching Criminal Minds now. I’ll probably catch some Olympics, too. The weekend is looking pretty decent. DS has an at home game tomorrow, then he’s heading to a friends house for the afternoon. All I have to do is groceries. Sunday morning I have brunch planned with the girls and I think my brother is coming over in the afternoon with his kids. How is your weekend shaping up?

  2. your strategy to fight the "fake" hunger is really good, I should adopt it when I'm anxious with work. I hate ruining my appetite for proper meal.... I keep telling myself not to snack when I'm not hungry... but never did anything actually to avoid it. Thanks for the tip! ;)
