Too Old For Cavities

Today was another stormy, wet day. Le sigh. What can ya do? I enjoyed a great breakfast, though!

100_4755

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup PC 5 grain cereal
  • mashed up strawberries & raspberries
  • hemp seeds
  • sprinkle of sunflower seeds
  • splash of vanilla coffee creamer

I let the berries soften up in the water and then hit them up with the immersion blender before adding the oats. This was mucho delicious!

I ran out of any type of dried fruit for my morning nibbles and I survived! I’m trying to get away from that type of snack because I normally am only eating it out of boredom. Instead, I ate 1/2 of this Clif bar about 11:30;

100_4750

Yum, yum! I have about 10 more Clif bars that I need to get eaten up before I can buy anymore bars. This may take awhile considering that I typically only eat half at a time.

I had some errands to run over my lunch hour so no gym for me today. If the weather holds I may get out for a run later on tonight.

I tried a new tuna product at lunch today. Gold Seal Smoked Light Tuna Slices packed in water.

Here’s what it looks like once opened;

100_4762

I added half of this to the leftover roasted asparagus and steamed veggies from dinner last night. It was kinda boring. I really should have added some salt & pepper to it!

100_4765

Not sure if I’d buy this tuna again. It was the same as the regular canned stuff only “cut” differently. Let me tell you that the canned tuna is much cheaper than this stuff!

I sat around most of the afternoon DREADING my 4:20 dentist appointment. You see, my kids were cavity free. Me on the other hand? TWO of them. What the heck? As the title of this post says, I’m too darn old for cavities. Alas, I sucked it up and got’em filled.

My mouth was pretty frozen but I was a starvin Marvin by 6pm so I whipped up a tasty green brown monster that I drank with a very classy straw;

100_4769

  • frozen mixed berries
  • frozen mango
  • spinach
  • 1/2 cup water/unsweetened almond breeze
  • 1/3 cup oats

YUMMY! I got it all down without drooling all over the place, too! :) Once I can actually feel my face I’ll be diving into this bowl of sweet tasting honeydew melon…

100_4761

Before I sign off, I need some Live Writer help. I would like my photos to be bigger but even the “medium” setting puts them out of the margins on my blog template. I manually adjusted them this time, but I’m sure they’re slightly distorted because of it. How do you all get your pictures to fit larger? Can anyone help a girl out? THANKS!

I’m off work tomorrow for Canada Day and what a feeling that is! I hope the rain holds off because the city always holds a big party in the park that involves fire works. I’d love a sunny day to enjoy it. Any of my fellow Canucks have plans for the day???

Bye for now!

I Hope This Looks OK

I’m trying out Windows Live Writer for the first time so I apologize if this looks funny! I’m pretty sure that it’ll be a huge time saver once I get the hang of it. On to breakfast, shall we?

100_4740

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • pumpkin puree
  • cinnamon, vanilla, salt, nutmeg
  • pecan pieces
  • splash vanilla flavoured coffee creamer

100_4741

This bowl was a little more watery than usual, but all was still good!

I brought my second last packet of Amazing Grass Wheat Grass to work with me and sipped on it through out the morning…

100_4742

This stuff is pretty good as long as you keep mixing it up so the powder doesn’t settle on the bottom. I’m thinking about ordering a few of the sample packs so I’m not committed to one flavour. I also worked on my last few dried apricots all morning;

100_4743

Noon time rolled around and I had a hot date with Mr. Elliptical at the gym! I was initially only going to do 30 minutes, but half way through I decided to just go for broke and pumped out 50.

Time: 50 minutes

Avg HR: 156

Max Hr: 172

Calories Burned: 439

Distance: 5.2 miles

Lunch was pretty predictable….leftovers! I packed up some pork tenderloin and kobucha to eat;

100_4746

Then I enjoyed a blueberry Z-Bar..

100_4744

I hit a major wall by 2:30. I swear I could’ve just put my head on my desk and passed out. Not cool. I was very glad to see 4pm roll around today. Look who we found walking across the front yard when we got home!

100_4731

Dinner was baked salmon and asparagus…quick and easy-peasy! And yes, that is half of a Juicy Jumbo hotdog on my plate. What can I say? I love hotdogs!

100_4749

I ate a few of these berries before we went to DS’s soccer game. I’ve saved the rest for tomorrow’s b-fast.

100_4747

Soccer was miserable tonight….for the parents, anyways. It was pouring buckets and not exactly warm. AND, I had to pee like a race horse part way through. How much do I love my kid??? The rest of my night will be spent cuddled on the couch watching TV. Ooooh, that sounds nice!

Bye for now!

Fire Up That Oven!

I finally slept in a little bit this morning. I actually woke up at 6:30, but laid around in bed until 8:30. NICE! I decided to go the strawberry banana route with my breakfast today...
-1 cup water
-1/3 cup Sunrise Blend w/ quinoa
-cinnamon, vanilla, salt
-banana
-strawberry banana jam
-strawberries and a dried banana as toppings
This turned out to be dessert for breakfast! YUM! Here's a closer look at the jam I used. I bought it yesterday and although it definitely has sugar in it, there are very few ingredients otherwise...
And here's an up close of the dried bananas...
I really liked these! You all know that I love the taste of banana, but not the mushiness of them. These were full of banana flavour and more chewy than anything. I'm glad I decided to buy some to try.

I enjoyed a very laid back morning and even got some baking done. I reasoned that it was raining out and the temps were cooler so it would be OK to fire the oven up. I made these cookies from a recipe on the Hungry Girl website. They're PB cookies but I added a few carob chips and used PB&Co. Mighty Maple PB in place of regular.
Soft and delish! The recipe is for 6 cookies, but I got 7 of them. I also baked up the kobucha squash along with the big green zucchini from yesterday's adventure's. How on earth do you girls cut the squash on your own? I had to get my hubby to do it and even he struggled! I roasted it at 400* for 40 minutes. It made an appearance at dinner time.

DD had a friend over for part of the day and DS was at a b-day party so it was quiet in the house. A definite rarity around here. I didn't leave until 2:30 and only because I had to get the grocery shopping done. I had a light lunch around 1pm. I wasn't terribly hungry but I didn't want to be grazing all afternoon either so I made some pumpkin yogurt (equal parts NF plain yogurt and pumpkin puree with cinnamon and a squirt of agave) and sprinkled it with some dorset cereal for crunch;This is also the point where I enjoyed one of the above cookies! :)

I bumped into a friend at the grocery store so shopping took a lot longer than usual. We were busy gabbing! By the time I got home it was time to get dinner started. We grilled up some pre marinated pork tenderloins and I served mine with some baked zucchini, tomato & feta salad and a wedge of kabocha that I just sprinkled with salt & pepper...

I really liked the kabocha although I wouldn't eat it as "dessert" per se. Next I'll try it with some sweetness added, then I may change my mind! For dessert I ate a cinnamon bun that I bought yesterday;
I ate this half, then went back for the other! :) YUM! I'm off to the neighbours place now. They have a pool and the kids have been invited for a dip. There seems to be another rain cloud moving in, though so I hope they actually make it in the pool!
Bye for now!!

Blogger Meet Up at the Market!!

Happy Saturday, everyone! I had a most fun day today. DD and I were up and on the road by 7:30 to head into Toronto to hit up some popular farmers' markets. We enjoyed the company of a fellow blogger who was a most awesome tour guide....Ruth from Plentiful Plants!

What a sweet friendly person Ruth is! We have plans to meet up again soon for some more excursions in T.O. I really appreciated her taking part of her day to show us around the markets and bringing us to the best vendors. I bought a ton of stuff, but first...what did I eat for breakfast? Well today ends my June challenge of eating something different for breakfast one day a week for the month. I made a toasted WW bagel with homemade cinnamon maple almond butter and fig jam to go...This made for a great breakfast. DD had one too, minus the preserves. Traffic was fantastic on the way there so between that and my lead foot, we made it downtown in 55 minutes. We passed right by the CN Tower many times. I've seen it hundreds of times in my life and I'm always amazed by it!
We went to the St. Lawrence Market...
and Kensington Street market. As I mentioned, I bought loads of goodies. Here's the proof!

Sweet peas, bell peppers, and a few different varieties of tomatoes.
Fresh local asparagus. I can't wait to roast these babies up!
Strawberry Banana jam, sweet apple chamomile tea and Holly Nog Vita Soy. This was reduced to a dollar because it expires on July 17th. I'm sure I can put it back by then!
Yellow and green zucchini and a KABOCHA courtesy of Ruth and some homemade mole, also from Ruth. I' thrilled about the kombucha and the mole is so very good. I stuck my finger in to give it a taste and I think iIm gonna enjoy that on some chicken! THANKS, Ruth!!
Pastries! There are 7 in there if you can believe it. This is more for my hubby who enjoys this type of sweet stuff. I can take or leave it so it's safe for me to have a home.
Fresh, local strawberries which are super sweet and juicy. We've actually already polished off a pint! They're like eating candy.
And this ginger dark chocolate bar which melted on the way home and had to be put in the fridge to reharden. It looks a little funny but tastes great! I also bought some almond breeze which was more reasonably priced than what I've been finding lately and some cereal for the kids. I purchased some dried banana's which you will likely see in my oats tomorrow. They're VERY strange looking!

I taste tested some really good cheese and breads so I was OK for lunch until we got home which was about 1:30. I put everything away then made up a bowl of cottage cheese mixed with pineapple jam and fresh strawberries (which taste just like sugar!!) and a wrap that was filled with some Monteray Jack (purchased at Kensington Market) and some grilled zucchini and oyster mushrooms (purchased at St. Lawrence Street). I toasted it up in a pan to melt the cheese.
What a great lunch!!! The veggies were in quite a bit of oil so I rinsed them off and patted them dry before using them. This didn't take any of the flavour away in my opinion.

As soon as I got this down we left to go to my parents place to celebrate my nephews 4th b-day. Mom had dinner for 4:30. There were burgers, sausages, hotdogs, potato salad and pasta salad and a green salad. Nothing appealed to me which I couldn't figure out a first but I soon realized that I was not hungry. I munched on some watermelon and strawberries...

Then enjoyed a piece of Mom's famous drumstick cheesecake... Full or not, I can not pass this one up!
We arrived back home about 7:30 and I can honestly say that I'm BEAT! I know I didn't eat much of a dinner, but I'm just not very hungry. I'm going to spend the evening catching up on blog reading with my feet up while sipping on that new tea. I hope you all had as enjoyable a day as I had!

Bye for now!

Amen for the Weekend!

It just didn’t seem fair this morning that I had to get up for work while everyone else slept. *POUT* Alas, I survived it! A great bowl of oats helped me out…
-1 cup water
-1/3 cup Quaker oats
-pumpkin puree
-cinnamon, salt, vanilla
-PB2
-carob chips and a few peanuts
As I was enjoying this I was looking out my kitchen window and noticed that my Dad was in the backyard. What the heck….at 7:30am? He was already out for a walk (I’m pouting again) and stopped by to look at the siding my hubby put up on our shed last summer because he wants to do his the same. We had a nice little chat before I had to leave.

When I got to work I mixed up a packet of Amazing Grass super food in my huge Starbucks tumbler which I sipped on all morning,

I also snacked on some dried apricots;

Before leaving the mall last night I stopped in at Starbucks and grabbed a tall light blended mocha...
I was a little annoyed that the barista didn't even fill the cup and even more annoyed when I got to the bottom and found a disk of ice. Humpf! All aside, it tasted divine on a hot night!

Finally it was time for the gym! I admit that I had mixed feeling about going today with the kids at home so I called DD to see if they all wanted to meet me at the park, but my lazy bones were still in their jammies! That sealed the deal and off I went for a sweat sesh. I wanted to use the elliptical but someone was on it so I went for a run instead. I took it a bit easy because my right ankle is still not too happy with me.

Time: 45 minutes

I had kind of a kooky lunch today. The fam had a big can of Bush’s honey baked beans as their side last night so I dumped the last 1/2 cup or so over top the last of the steamed veggies…
Weird, but tasty! I felt like a kid eating this! There was also a handful of mini Breaton crackers that played camera shy. Don’t know why; they were way cute! :) I also made my way through this container of blueberries and raspberries over the afternoon.
I chilled at home for a bit before I went to my last Pilates class. I decided not to sign up for the summer session as i like to be free to make plans for whenever I want. I'll be heading back in September for sure. Before I left I made a toasted chocolate PB2 sandwich to tie me over;
I got back home just before 7 and whipped up an egg white omlette stuffed with raw cow's milk Swiss and some Sabra hummus. On the side was some cottage cheese with a dollop of pear ginger jam...
Dessert was a chocolate chip z-bar that I accidentally deleted the picture of. Ooops! I'm currently out enjoying the nice weather again and resting up for a super fun trip into Toronto That I have planned for tomorrow with a fellow blogger. You'll have to come back tomorrow to see where I went and with who!!!

Bye for now!!
