Yup, that's what we woke up to at 7am this morning....a thunderstorm! It was actually really cool. After a long winter it's nice to hear the sounds of thunder and I was all bundled and cozy so it was all good. The weather continued on like that most of the day....thunderstorm, sun, repeat. I started the morning off with a marvelous bowl of oats;
-1 cup water
-1/3 cup Quaker oats
-cinnamon
-PB2
-banana
-carob chips
-True North nut crumbs (from the bottom of the bag)
This was ah-mazing!!! Better yet, it kept me full for 5 hrs! Go oats and nuts!!! :)
After laundry folding, breakfast dishes and a shower, DD and I headed out the door for our manicures. She had her toes done, too as well as some fancy airbrushing on her thumbs.
Part one of her birthday present, this was!
We left the nail place and went straight across town for DS's ball hockey game. He's having a blast with ball hockey! His team won today so he was in a good mood afterward. Good thing.....you do not want to be around my son when he is cranky!
We got lunch about 1:30 and the fam decided to have mac n cheese. No thanks! I warmed up a can of Amy's Minestrone soup for myself...
And finished with the LAST slice of banana bread with the toffee and chocolate bits.
It's a miracle I even got this piece as it went pretty darn quick. I guess that's a sign of a winning recipe, eh??? Anyways, this was really moist and sweet. I can see why the kids enjoyed it so much. While I wouldn't turn my nose up at another piece, I like the banana currant version much better. Too me, it had more layers of flavour to it.
We were out the door again by 2pm to run errands and pick up a b-day present for a party DS attended this afternoon at 3:45pm. Nothing like waiting for the last minute, I know! I ate a handful of my hubby's trail mix on the way home, but didn't bother to take a picture of it! Here's the kind he bought, though....
We also stopped in at Tim Hortons where I caved and bought a medium half hot chocolate, half decaf. Love that combo!!
Dinner was quick and easy tonight. I pulled out a serving of vegan chili from the freezer and warmed it up on the stove top with a 1/2 cup water and 2 big handfuls of baby spinach. Once it was hot, I topped it off with some yogurt and cheddar cheese.
Mmmm. YUMMY! Looks very Mexican, don't cha think??
I haven't had a sweet end yet as this filled me up pretty good! Later I will likely have a banana currant loaf as a snacky. My hubby has "Yes Man" here which we'll probably watch tonight. I may even do a bit more baking with bananas. Other than that, there are no plans. I lead such an exciting life, I know!! I'm off to catch up on all the blog reading that I missed today!!! Have a great evening!
Bye for now!!
